Channel 4 “not actively” bringing 4oD to Wii

Richard Davidson-Houston, head of online products at Channel 4, has told Weeman.com that currently, Channel 4 is not working on bringing its 4oD service to Wii like BBC iPlayer and Demand5.
Responding to comments made by 4oD customer support stating that “the 4oD service is not available to Wii users”, and that there are “currently no plans to introduce such a service”, Houston felt the need to clarify a bit.
“The ‘No plans’ you got from support is a simplification of the reality that we’re not actively working on a solution right now,” said Houston. “We blog at Platform 4 and are always keen to hear feedback and suggestions, so do pile in there if you have any more. You’ll see comments there about PS3 too.
“Thanks for keeping us on our toes.”
There’s always hope, we reckon.
Thanks, GoNintendo.

Violence in games “concerns” Miyamoto
Nintendo dev boss Shigeru Miyamoto thinks there are better ways of entertaining people than allowing them to shoot people in the face.
“I don’t want to curb freedom of expression but I am concerned that many developers focus just on excessive violence in order to stimulate people’s mind,” he told Channel 4.
“I believe that there are more ways of grabbing players’ attention than violence alone.”
And why’s he concerned? Because entertainment should come second place only to eating, apparently.
“We need to eat in order to live – that’s our first priority but entertainment and the enrichment of our souls must come in second place,” he added.
More through there.

Games to beat credit crunch, says Miyamoto
Shigeru Miyamoto told Channel 4 news last night that he is confident that the games industry will beat the current credit crisis.
“We need to eat in order to live – that’s our first priority,” Miyamoto said. “But entertainment and the enrichment of our souls must come in second place.
“Nintendo’s mission is to take advantage of improving cheaper technology to create reasonable and affordable entertainment. It’s very good value,” he added.
After all the reports of normal, hard-working people losing their pensions overnight, we’re just glad Nintendo and Miyamoto are staying positive.
