COD: World At War £27 at Asda
Carnage. MCV’s reporting that CoD: World At War will be sold at £27 when Asda puts it on sale at midnight tonight.
If you’re someone like Game or GameStation, UK retailers selling the shooter at £40 and, again, £40, this is probably not the best news you’ve ever had.
MCV says Asda’s promoting the deal in the national UK press.

Nazi zombies confirmed for Call of Duty: World at War
Nazis are awesome. Best uniforms ever. Great news, then, comes in the form of this weekend’s GameTrailers TV episode, which confirms a Nazi zombie survival mode for Call of Duty: World at War.
You unlock it by completing the game’s single-player campaign. It’s a four-way co-op thing, in which you and three Nazi zombie-hating buddies have to defend against increasingly angry waves of snappily dressed undead.
Day one purchase for us. Nazi fucking zombies, for God’s sake. Genius.
You can see the mode in action through the link.

Treyarch outlines access to CoD5 beta
In this FAQ on CallofDuty.com, Treyarch advised that pre-ordering Call of Duty: World at War through GameStop and signing up to the site as a community member are the only two ways you’re going to be in with a chance of getting on the game’s beta.
QUESTION: Who gets to be in the CoD: WW Xbox 360 Beta?
ANSWER: For U.S. consumers, read on to find out more. For our international comrades, many more countries will have access to the Beta program, so stay tuned! People interested in joining the beta in the U.S. can join one of two ways:
- Guarantee a spot by pre-ordering the game through GameStop or
- Getting first-crack at a token by heading to CallOfDuty.com and signing on as a new community member. Remember, space is limited so the earlier you register, the more likely you’ll get a token.
QUESTION: If I already have an account on Callofduty.com, should I create a new one?
ANSWER: No! See below for how the handout of tokens will work, but if you already have an account with us there is no need to sign up anywhere, you’re already in line!QUESTION: How does token distribution work for members of CallofDuty.com?
ANSWER: To reward the most dedicated CoD fans, the order of distribution on CallofDuty.com is as follows:
- Charlie Oscar Delta members who migrated their accounts over to CallOfDuty.com
- CallofDuty.com members (CallofDuty.com members will be prioritized by they date in which they joined CallofDuty.com. The longer they’ve been a member, the better chance they have of getting a Beta Token.)
Glad that’s sorted out. No date on when it’s actually going to happen yet. More through the link.

Call of Duty: World at War co-op trailer stinks of quality
Activision’s released an official co-op trailer of Call of Duty: World at War, and it’s all looking just dandy from where we’re sitting. There’s no fixed date for the game’s release at the moment, but shooter fans should definitely be looking forward to a four-way play option from the look of this.
See for yourself.

CoD5 isn’t going back to World War II, says Treyarch
Put on your thinking caps, boys and girls, because this one’s a doozy. When asked by Joystiq about his firm’s feelings on returning to WWII with Call of Duty: World at War, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia replied that his company isn’t going back at all.
See, when CoD5 was conceived, CoD3 had just been unceremoniously shoved out the door. Therefore, by that logic, “there was no modern warfare,” said Lamia, because CoD4 was still a twinkle in Infinity Ward’s collective brain matter.
Ah, semantics. Don’t you love ‘em?

There’s a new preview on IGN now, as well. The embargo on all this stuff lifts today, so expect more this morning and afternoon.

No more numbers in CoD game titles, says Treyarch
Speaking at a Call of Duty: World at War event, developer Treyarch told Videogamer.com that there aren’t going to be any numbers attached to Call of Duty sequels from here on in.
“We’re getting rid of the number in Call of Duty for a very specific reason,” said senior producer Noah Heller. “It’s because we want you to know that when you’re playing Call of Duty: World at War you’re playing the best shooter, the best WW2 game ever. Likewise when you’re playing Modern Warfare, likewise when you play any game that will be called Call of Duty.”
There’s a massive interview with Heller and creative lead Rich Farrelly right here.
