Bungie’s Destiny is “quite like Halo”, according to DemonWare – rumor
Bungie may be using DemonWare, the subsidiary of Activision-Blizzard which specializes in online software and services for videogames, for its next game, presumably titled Destiny. According to a DemonWare blog post, which has been removed, the game “is still quite like Halo” and the firm has been involved with Destiny since the early stages of the project.

Destiny shirt available ahead of Bungie’s new IP reveal
Keen to see what Bungie is up to? Well, you can’t, and we have no idea when you can, but you can buy merchandise about it. The enigmatic Halo developer has added a new t-shirt to its online store described as “an enigma from our future release”. The first title published under Bungie’s multi-game contract with Activision is expected in 2013, code-named Destiny, and believed to be a sci-fi shooter.

Paul McCartney composing music with Bungie
Paul McCartney is composing music with Bungie, the musical legend has confirmed via Twitter. “I’m really excited to be working on writing music with @bungie, the studio that made Halo,” he tweeted. McCartney said back in January he was “working on music for a computer game.” Looks like we’ll be able to hear his compositions in Destiny, or whatever Bungie has decided to call it’s “sci-fantasy, action shooter game” series. Activision and Bungie have stated the first game should arrive in 2013, but neither party has confirmed any further details. Via Eurogamer.

Full Marathon trilogy available for free on iOS
The Marathon trilogy for iOS can now be yours for free through the App Store. The last game in the set, Marathon Infinity was released yesterday on the service. Each title is free in standard definition, but if you want the games in a higher resolution, each will run you $1.99. There’s also a Master Chief mode for 99¢ which contains cheat options and a level select, and for another 99¢ you can get IAP for various different crosshairs. To reiterate, the games available are: Marathon, Marathon 2: Durandal, and Marathon Infinity. Thanks, Touch Arcade.

Bungie’s Destiny contract detailed; Marathon reboot in the works
Couldn’t be bothered slogging through all 27 pages of the 2010 contract between Bungie and Activision? Develop has done all the work for you. In addition to previously reported details of platform, schedule and bonuses, the contract reveals Bungie staff are free to work on a Marathon-related project; can move onto non-Activision projects after earning $750 million; that Valve, Epic and Gearbox are banned from developing ports of Activision-published titles; and that the first game has a total budget of $140 million. Marathon 2 now available on iOS, free
The classic Bungie Macintosh first-person-shooter Marathon 2: Durandal is now available for free on iOS. Any iOS device newer than an iPhone 3GS will be able to experience a true classic, and the predecessor to Halo.
You can pick up the game here. The game itself is free, but offers a few bonuses via in-app-purchase like HD textures. This isn’t just a slipshod port either. It offers GameCenter support as well as support for Joypad.

Bungie’s first sci-fi trilogy released for free
A free, open-source version of Halo developer Bungie’s classic Marathon trilogy has been released online. Available for Linux, Mac and PC, the pack contains an updated version of the engine, a fan remake of the first Marathon, and lovingly HD remastered versions of Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity. The new versions sport modern features like online multiplayer including co-op; control pad support; and OpenGL shader functionality. You can grab the pack here. The Marathon series of shooters kicked off in 1994 and wrapped up in 1996, predating Halo by five years.
