The Settlers Online will be releases at retail next month, Ubisoft has announced. The strategy game from Blue Byte studio will come in a Standard Edition loaded with “high value content” for £19.99. Besides the game, players will also get an extra resource pack which includes 400 stones, 400 planks, 100 tools and 20 settlers, along with three tactical maps, a troop buff, 4000 gems and “The Nords 1” adventure. These items can be downloaded with a code included in the retail box. The Settlers Online will hit retail on PC December 7 in the UK.

Ubisoft has announced its browser-based free-to-play strategy, The Settlers Online, has garnered over 1.5 million players since its initial release in Germany, Russia and the US. The firm also announced the European open beta starts today for the Blue Byte-developed title. Known as Castle Empire, you can sign up to play through here. Check out shots from the game below.

The long-running Anno series of simulation and strategy games is getting a new entry – and a new time period – thanks to publisher Ubisoft. The new title is Anno 2070. And yes, that does mean this game will be set nearly 60 years in the future.

Ubisoft has announced The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom for spring 2010.
Currently in development at Blue Byte, Settlers 7 features three paths to triumph–military, science and trade with a new victory points system, a new graphics engine, improved AI, “more than a dozen AI profiles, each with unique behaviors,” and multiplayer modes with leaderboards, and support for “user-generated and downloadable content.”
