Blizzard denies IPL buy-out rumours
The IGN Pro League will not be coming under Blizzard’s banner, the publisher told GameSpot in response to recent rumours. Blizzard doesn’t normally bother with rumours, but said it has extended job offers to some prominent IPL community members and is looking at purchasing some of its technology and assets, so spoke out to clear up confusion. The eSports organisation was abruptly shut down by the Ziff Davis buyout, and IGN is still looking for a purchaser to take it over wholesale if possible.

StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty 50% off till Heart of the Swarm launches
If you’re a little behind on your real-time startegy gaming, there’s still time to pick up the most important release of the last few years before its immediate successor launches. Blizzard is offering StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty at 50% off up until expansion Heart of the Swarm launches on March 12. That’s probably not long enough to master one of the premiere eSports of the current generation, but it will set you up to get on board the hype train next week. Wings of Liberty was focused on the Terran or human faction, which Heart of the Swarm is more centred on the Zerg. A third instalment is expected a couple of years down the track.

Diablo 3 will suport offline play on PS3 and PS4 – report
Diablo 3 on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 will be playable offline, according to an interview reported by Eurogamer. The interview is no longer available, but Sony’s John Hight is said to have mentioned offline play briefly before being interrupted. The news makes sense in a console context but the Mac and PC versions of Diablo 3 famously require always-on Internet in order to help keep it free from hacks and cheats, something the real-money Auction House requires. The console version will have a number of interesting features and has not been dated.

World of Wacraft and expansions on sale
Blizzard is throwing a serious sale on World of Warcraft. The core Battle Chest, which includes the first two expansions, is just $5; Cataclysm is $10 and latest effort Mists of Pandaria is $20. The sale heralds patch 5.2, called The Thunder King, which is due later this month, although if this is your first WoW experience I don’t fancy your chances of ploughing through all this content before it drops. World of Warcraft is free-to-play up to level 20, and then requires a subscription.
Thanks, Massively.

Diablo 3: no more account rollbacks for hardcore characters
As of patch 1.03′s rol out later today, Diablo 3 will no longer allow you to resurrect Hardcore characters, which are only supposed to have one shot at glory before perma-death. In a developer update, Blizzard said hardcore resurrections were an unintended consequence of account rollbacks, and it’s well aware some of you have been fibbing about compromises in order to get your barbarian back on his toes.
Thanks, PCGamesN.
