Xbox 360 sales Black Friday week hit 960,000 in US
Microsoft has announced that it sold 960,000 consoles in the US last week during the Black Friday sales promotional period, making it the “biggest sales week in the history of Xbox,” according to the firm. During Black Friday week in the US, Xbox 360 moved 800,000 units with a 24-hour period, and over 750,000 Kinect sensors were sold in the US when combining standalone and bundled units. “We have seen tremendous excitement from customers for our hot holiday gaming offers,” said Chris Homeister, SVP and GM of Home Entertainment at Best Buy in the press release. “Xbox 360 was among the best-sellers at Best Buy this Black Friday, and is a testament to the continued popularity of the gaming category this holiday.”
Last week, Nintendo announced 3DS sales were up 325% for Black Friday week, and that Wii moved 500,000 units during the period.

Gamer pepper-sprayed in Black Friday sale
The LA Times reports that a San Fernando resident shopping for games at a Walmart Black Friday sale was pepper-sprayed by what he called a “competitive shopper.” Matthew Lopez, 18, was attacked inside the store. By the time he got to the games section, the display was torn down and employees were having to pick up copies of games and DVDs that were scattered on the floor. Another customer said that screaming began when 100 people started shoving over Xbox 360s and Wiis.

Sales: Sears and Target release Black Friday ads
Guess what happens next week? Yep. Black Friday. Lucky for us, or unlucky for us – it’s all in how you look at it – we’ll be on our second of three Thanksgiving dinners with family, and stuck inside a house full of food and spirits instead of braving the crowds stampeding for a deal. However, if you’re the brave sort, or just willing to go through anything to save a buck or twenty, Target and Sears have a few gaming-related sales going on you may be interested in, such as: new game releases for $37, console bundles, and older releases for cheap. Joystiq has the fliers and a rundown posted here and here. More Black Friday deals, specifically from Walmart, Microsoft, Best Buy, GameStop and Toys R Us, can be found through a previous post.
Valve should be getting in on the mix with a Steam sale soon, and we suggest you get your bank account padded ahead of time in preparation.
