New Bionic Commando trailer shows arm in action

Capcom’s put out a new trailer for the soon-to-be-released Bionic Commando, and it’s fair to say the game’s looking officially “better” than it used to. A good thing.
The movie shows off abilities of our hero’s robot arm, and it looks as though a ton of work’s been done on general presentation. Hooray for that.
It’s out in May.

New Bionic Commando movies posted

CVG’s put up some direct-feed Bionic Commando videos from a near-final version. And here they are.
The game’s out in May. We would tell you what’s in the movies, but CVG’s videos always crash Firefox for us. So we can’t.
Shame.

Grin to court publishers with three new projects at GDC

Grin’s Bo Andersson has said that the Swedish developer has started work on three new projects.
The firm will talk to publishers about the games next week at GDC, Andersson said.
He said the meetings are “more to do with what we will work on in 2011 and 2012″.
“One of the things we will have to gauge is when the next generation will kick off,” he said.
“I think the financial situation has delayed the start of the next generation. I’m hoping it will start late 2012 at the earliest or early 2013.”
Grin’s Wanted: Weapons of Fate is due out next week, and the company has Bionic Commando and Terminator Salvation in the works.

UK Capom dates aren’t true, says Capcom UK
An apparent first-quarter Capcom release schedule, published by MCV, isn’t anything of the kind, the firm has said.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Capcom’s said the list is merely retail guidance, and not a set date list.
The original information pinned Street Fighter IV as being released on PS3, 360 and PC on February 20 and Bionic Commando for a February 13 launch.
So you’d better hold those horses.

Bionic Commando is “not fucking Spider-Man,” says GRIN
Speaking to Kotaku, GRIN chap Ulf Andersson has explained the reasoning behind not making Bionic Commando’s swing mechanic an automatic affair, claiming the decision to make you press a button to latch on is all about “focus.”
“It’s not fucking Spider-Man,” he said. “We made a swing mechanism that’s not automatic.
“This means you have to focus a bit more, because it’s a proper mechanic instead of just a button press; it’s the core mechanic of the game. Everything in the game is built around that, from the environments to the enemy.”
Andersson added: “It’s really hard to do a good swing mechanic. Not many games have got it right. But we’re all really proud of ours.
“The original Bionic Commando was skill-based. There was a risk in jumping: you might die, you might not. We’ve stayed true to that core mood and feeling of the original in our game.”
Game’s out early next year. More through the link.

Bionic Commando movie is “definite possibility”
Speaking to Kotaku, Capcom producer Ben Judd has said a Bionic Commando movie may not be the stupidest idea in the world.
“I mean, we’ve already got action figures and a comic book; movies are a definite possibility,” he said.
“Capcom are active IP holders, they do a lot of turning stuff into movies, so yeah.”
That’s be nice, isn’t it? More through there.

Bionic Commando to have 10 players online
Speaking in this TeamXbox interview, Swedish developer GRIN’s confirmed that Capcom’s Bionic Commando will have 10-way multiplayer, the lesser number hopefully keeping the servers “happy”.
“Ten is our target,” said a spokesperson. “The reason being is that I’ve done a lot of multiplayer games with 32 players, but the servers rarely seem happy. So, we were going for a game that runs optimally with twelve players, but now it looks like ten will be the sweet spot.”

Meet Mega Man and the Bionic Commando at Comic-Con!
If you hadn’t already worked yourself into a nerdy fervor over this week’s San Diego Comic-Con, here’s a nice little incentive. GoNintendo got its Gameboy-stained claws on Capcom’s Comic-Con schedule, and it’s a doozy.
Actually, it’s pretty commonplace, but apparently you’ll be able to “Meet the Bionic Commando & Mega Man!” Cool. Additionally, the Capcom booth will be hosting a Street Fighter IV tournament, as well as celebrity signings with the stars of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
However, we can’t help but wonder whether or not Mega Man and the Bionic Commando will be entering the cosplay contest. Isn’t that a tad unfair?
Yeah, anyway. Hit the link for the full schedule.
