Bionic Commando ships 550,000 worldwide
Capcom confirmed in its Q1 financial release last night that Bionic Commando’s shipped 550,000 units to retailers worldwide.
Note: shipped. Not sold. Sales in the US were less than inspiring, so don’t be too shocked if there’s some mumbling and coughing going on here.
Thanks, Kotaku.

Mills: I’d appear in game where Sun journos were shocked at the “privates”

This was never going to be pretty. Following a Sun story this afternoon that claimed Paul McCartney ex Heather Mills demanded a “six-figure sum” to appear in Capcom’s Bionic Commando, the amputee model has said she’d like to appear in a game in which journalists from the paper were shocked at the genitals from a lie detector.
“I know one game I’d happily appear in and I’d do it for free,” she said on her Twitter account.
“Connect Sun journalists to a lie detector machine which triggers an electric current attached to their privates.
“If they tell the truth they’d get a good boy drop. But if they tell a porkie pie… it’d give them a short sharp shock to the privates.”
Mills went on to say the Sun’s journalists would likely have fun at the treatment.
“They’d probably enjoy it and not only would we all be able to tell Sun fact from fiction,” she said. “One day’s power surge from their uncontrollable bullshit would generate enough power to light up England each and every week.
“Now that’s what I call alternative energy.”
The Sun’s original story said Mills had turned down involvement in the game after Capcom refused to pay a significant sum of money.
Mills reacted, saying the money was to be a charitable donation.
Capcom declined to comment on the matter this afternoon.

Paul McCartney’s ex demanded “six-figure sum” to appear in Bionic Commando [Update]

Update: Capcom just mailed this over: “We will not be commenting on the matter.”
Update 2: Mills has apparently confirmed the truth of the story on her Twitter, saying the large sum was to be for a charitable donation.
The ex-model lambasted Capcom as “stingy” in the process. Here are the tweets:
Got offered to promote an amputee bionic computer game, from a wealthy computer games company I said if you donate a large sum to charity
The stingy company came back saying they couldn’t, what happened to charitable businesses, seems they just want to exploit and give nothing
Update 3: Mills has responded, saying she’d appear for free in a game in which Sun journalists were attached to a lie detector by their genitals.
Original story:
This is awesome. The Sun’s claiming that Heather Mills, Paul McCartney’s one-legged ex, demanded a “six-figure sum” to appear in Bionic Commando, and wanted the game to revolve around a character based on her.
Capcom approached her about the game “because of her charity work with amputees,” according to that piece.
Said a source: “She was insistent she wouldn’t do it for a smaller fee and said the producers should make her the star.
“The request was way, way over budget and they certainly weren’t keen on basing the game on her.”
Just mailed Capcom. In between bouts of choking.

Capcom to release titles on Steam same day as retail, considering more RE5 DLC

Capcom plans to release its future titles on Steam the same day as retail.
Speaking with ButtonBasher, Capcom VP Christian Svensson told the site that Dark Void and Bionic Commando will be available on Steam at the same time as retail, as the company is taking digital distribution “very seriously.”
Svensson also said that more DLC for Resident Evil is being considered, however “there’s nothing to announce by any stretch,” despite the forum thread requests for it being “hundreds of posts long.”

Rumor: Bionic Commando sequel revealed through Morse Code

Rumor that a Bionic Commando sequel is in the works hit the net earlier via a strange Morse Code image.
Once the code is deciphered its reads the following in German:
“Bestaetige Ausfuehrung von Phase Zwei Vorbereitet Aktiviere Projeckt Albatross”
Translated into English:
“Confirm the Implementation of Phase Two Project Prepared Active Albatross”
Apparently in the first Bionic Commando, the purpose of Project Albatross was to resurrect Master-D. Not sure if this means a sequel is in the works or if it’s something to do with the upcoming release.
You can see the full thing over on PerezStart, and the image is posted after the break.
