Beachhead has said now that it’s finished “working furiously” on the mobile app for Call of Duty: Elite on Android and iOS, it’s next project was to start on a app for tablets. However, don’t expect it to be a port of the mobile application according to product director Noah Heller.

Activision has announced the Liberation and Piazza maps are now available for Modern Warfare 3 on PS3 for those who have a premium account through Elite.The next content drop for Premium Members on PSN is scheduled to land on March 29 with the release of Overwatch, a multiplayer map currently available for Elite users on 360 that drops players into a construction site atop a New York City skyscraper.

Activision has released a new video with glimpses of the Overwatch map which releases on Xbox 360 February 21 for Elite premium subscribers. After the exclusivity period on 360 ends, it will be released for PC and PS3. Overwatch takes place in a construction site atop a New York City skyscraper, and includes two levels “in a near symmetrical layout,” with the central bridge and side routes open to attack from multiple angles. Activision has announced Overwatch as the next content drop for Modern Warfare 3 and it will be made available first to Elite Premium Members on the Xbox Live February 21. After the exclusivity period on 360 ends, it will be released for PC and PS3. Overwatch takes place in a construction site atop a New York City skyscraper, and includes two levels “in a near symmetrical layout,” with the central bridge and side routes open to attack from multiple angles. This is the third content drop for the game, and the next two will be released in March and will include Black Box and two brand new Special Ops Missions, Black Ice and Negotiator. Meanwhile, Beachhead has posted a preview of Elite’s Clan Operations through here, and stated its release is “getting closer every day.”

VentureBeat reports the Call of Duty: Elite mobile app will arrive on the App Store on Tuesday, US time, and release for Android one week later. Mobile versions of the social service were expected alongside its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sim-ship, but were delayed after heavy demand caused launch hiccups. The apps allow members to check stats, view maps of past encounters, edit load outs, and browse challenges among other useful features.

Activision has admitted it’s having an issue scaling the Call of Duty Elite service to meet player demand, and to help sooth the frustration a bit, every premium member will “immediately and automatically” be handed an extra 30 days of Elite at no additional cost. The firm is also extending Founder eligibility until the end of the month, which will also provide and additional 30 days of free access. Beachhead said it is “working non-stop to identify issues and resolve them as quickly as possible.” To keep up-to-date on the service’s status, keep an eye on this page.

Just a quick heads up to let everyone know that if you pre-ordered Modern Warfare 3 through Direct2Drive or Steam, you can now pre-load the game. With that out of the way, you should also know that Elite’s Friday Night Fights will start on November 11 through Elite TV.

MW3 Facebook and ELITE integration video released; tournaments being held at Walmart stores on Monday
Activision has released a new behind-the-scenes video for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 which walks you through Facebook and ELITE integration. It’s posted below. Also, those who frequent Walmart should know that over 2,700 stores will be holding tournaments for the game starting at 8pm Monday, November 7. Here’s a list of store locations. Modern Warfare 3 is out November 8.

The first round of beta invites on Call of Duty: Elite are due to go out later today, according to Kotaku. The beta will allow players to try out some portions of the service before its full launch with Modern Warfare 3 in November with Black Ops. If you don’t get in today, invites will still be shipped out throughout the next month. The full list of premium features for the sub service will be announced in September at CoD XP.
