BattleForge ups to DirectX 11 support

EA RTS BattleForge has become the first title to “leverage Microsoft’s DirectX 11 and AMD’s new ATI graphic processor chipset,” the publisher said this morning.

This is a “significant first for the title,” according to EA. You can play the game for free right here.

Battleforge to get new card expansion

RTS card game Battleforge is to get a new card expansion called the Renegade Edition, so the official site says.

You’ll get 60 new units and structure creating cards along with “dual orb cards and special affinities” that “will deepen and enrich the strategical possibilities of the decks and the combat itself.”

The expansion will hit sometime on August.

BattleForge is now free to download

EA’s online card-trading RTS-MMO game, BattleForge, is now free to download.

Previously available for $29.99, you can download the full thing for nada and get access to all content, and two full decks. To get into the trading part, you will need to level up in both PvE and PvP.

Two new Battleforge maps today

EA’s to release two new maps for card-based RTS Battleforge today, representing the beginning of something called “the Renegade Campaign”.

The new levels are called MO and Blight, the former being a single-player thing.

BattleForge now $29.99 and no subscription fee

EA has announced new pricing for BattleForge. You can now get the RTS for $29.99 and no subscription fees.

That’s $20.00 off the original price.

The game comes with four faction decks and 3000 BattleForge points, which allows you to buy an additional 12 booster packs bringing the box total to 160 cards.

Use points to purchase booster packs so you can customize the game with as much or little as you like.

GDC: Battleforge gets Shadow trailer

On IGN. The Phenomic-developed, card-based RTS is in open beta at the moment, and will release at the end of March.

Looks swish. We saw this at EA’s UK event last summer and there was plenty of promise.

EA launches BattleForge open beta

EA’s put the open beta for Phenomic’s BattleForge live, meaning any man and his dog can now get involved in testing the card-based fantasy RTS.

Beta players will have access to all 200 cards and all maps in the game. Everyone who takes part will get a bonus, upgraded Firedancer unit to be made available after launch.

You can’t say no to that, can you? Hit this to have a waz. It’s out for PC on March 27 in Europe, March 24 in the US.

BattleForge beta opens the doors

Phenomic has flung open the doors to the beta for upcoming card-based RTS game, BattleForge.

Game’s live March 26, and for participating in the beta, you get a upgraded Firedancer card as reward. Can’t say fairer than that.

Here’s how. Go to the site, download the client, create an EA account (unless you already have one), let it patch, log in with EA account, create a character, play the game.

Easy as pie.

Battleforge beta registration now open

EA’s opened beta registration to card-based RTS Battleforge: hit the official site if you want to get involved.

The game sees the player throwing cards onto the battlefield to add troops to combat, and was shown for the first time at EA’s London preview event earlier this year.

It’s supposed to be out this year, but there’s no fixed date on it as yet.

Rock band 2 to debut at Games Convention full EA line-up confirmed

EA has announced its Games Convention line-up revealing that Harmonix’s Rock Band 2 will be shown for the first time.

EA reckons it’s “best ever product line up for European consumers this holiday and in 2009″ and as we’ll be able to confirm that for you when our full coverage gets under way tomorrow.

On show in Leipzig are Europe’s best selling franchises and consumer favorites like FIFA, Need For Speed, The Sims and Harry Potter, a wide range of casual and family titles for Nintendo platforms including LITTLEST PET SHOP, Boogie SuperStar, Zubo and MONOPOLY, brand new IP like SimAnimals, Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space, Dragon Age: Origins, Battleforge, Spore, the new MMORPG Warhammer® Online: Age of Reckoning, and EA partner titles Left 4 Dead from Valve, Rock Band and Rock Band 2 from MTV Games/Harmonix and Crysis Warhead® from Crytek.

EA announces card-based RTS, BattleForge

EA’s put out a press release making first mention of BattleForge, a card-based, online-only RTS from Germany studio EA Phenomic.

“BattleForge is the next step in compelling RTS gameplay by taking the battles completely online,” said dev boss Richard Leinfellner. “With co-op play, challenging tournaments, Guilds, chat rooms and a robust marketplace for trading and buying your cards, BattleForge is the first RTS to add integral social and community components to an exciting fantasy RTS.”
