Battlefield 3: Armored Kill launch trailer released
Battlefield 3: Armored Kill launches today for PS3 Battlefield 3 Premium members, and EA has released the launch trailer in celebration. The trailer features new gameplay from all four maps in such as the Alborz Mountains and Bandar Desert. In all, the pack contains four new maps, six new vehicles with 20 unlocks, the new Tank Superiority game mode, and more. Armored Kill is available two weeks early for Premium members, starting today for PS3 players.The pack will arrive for Premium Members on Xbox Live September 11 and in the UK on September 14.

Battlefield 3: Armored Kill video takes a flythrough of the Alborz Mountain map
Battlefield 3: Armored Kill has been handed another video, which is basically a flythrough of the Alborz Mountain map. The video highlights DICE’s work on terrain fidelity in the shooter and was created by senior environment artist Andrew Hamilton. Watch it below. Armored Kill will be released for Battlefield 3 Premium members first starting on September 4 with PS3, before landing on PC and Xbox 360 September 11.

Battlefield 3 – DICE quadrupling the number of official servers on PS3 and Xbox 360
Battlefield 3 servers are being quadrupled in number on both PS3 and Xbox 360, according to DICE. The firm said the additional servers were added due to the public’s “wish for more official DICE servers.” The firm states players will still be able to be quick matched into any ranked server with the upgrade. BF3 and Bad Company 2 lead designer exits DICE
Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 lead designer David Goldfarb has announced he is leaving DICE. Speaking with Kotaku, Goldfarb said: “It was time to move on for me. Fans have nothing to worry about.” While he isn’t sure where he is headed next, he has been rolling around an idea for a film script, and he’s been working on a novel on and off since the late ’90s. “Today and yesterday I worked on cleaning up and reframing chapter 1 and 2. Mostly what this was was coming to grips with the old style of the book, which is this thing a friend of mine called ‘Biblepunk’ for lack of a better word,” he said. “Or Old Testament noir. Anyway. It’s weird, and it’s especially weird revisiting it as a writer and being like, how the hell am I going to get myself back in that creative headspace again.”

Battlefield 3 patch hits PS3 tomorrow, to follow on XBL “shortly”
DICE has announced through Twitter that the client update for Battlefield 3 will arrive for PS3 tomorrow, and the update will “follow shortly” on Xbox 360. It was released on PC last week. The full list of console patch notes are posted below, courtesy of Joystiq.

BF3 Back to Karkand shots arrive, tout December release
EA has sent over screenshots for Back to Karkand for Battlefield 3. The DLC contains remasters of four maps from the franchise: Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula. It also includes five new dog tags and achievements/trophies, and three new vehicles: the DPV, BTR-90, and F-35B STOVL jet fighter. Also included are 10 “iconic Battlefield weapons,” and a new persistence system where players complete assignments to earn their rewards.
The DLC will be made available in December, for free to those who pre-ordered and £11.99 for those who didn’t.
