BF3 and Bad Company 2 lead designer exits DICE
Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 lead designer David Goldfarb has announced he is leaving DICE. Speaking with Kotaku, Goldfarb said: “It was time to move on for me. Fans have nothing to worry about.” While he isn’t sure where he is headed next, he has been rolling around an idea for a film script, and he’s been working on a novel on and off since the late ’90s. “Today and yesterday I worked on cleaning up and reframing chapter 1 and 2. Mostly what this was was coming to grips with the old style of the book, which is this thing a friend of mine called ‘Biblepunk’ for lack of a better word,” he said. “Or Old Testament noir. Anyway. It’s weird, and it’s especially weird revisiting it as a writer and being like, how the hell am I going to get myself back in that creative headspace again.”

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will not restrict party chat

DICE’s Gordon Van Dyke has told MTV that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will not implement a block on Party Chat.
“We are ok with [party chat]. We haven’t taken a stance, being against it and feeling like people are cheating,” he said. “Is it worth putting a restriction on it that affects everybody?
“I don’t think [cheating with party chat is] that big of an issue, that I’ve seen, where we have to worry about that.”
Good to know, actually. Now you can tell your buddies involved in another match to hurry the hell up and join your battle hungry soldiers in a match.

Riccitiello on Medal of Honor – I want the FPS crown back from Acti
EA boss John Riccitiello’s told Kotaku that EA’s Medal of Honor relaunch is a bid to win back leadership in the FPS race from Activision.
“I’m not saying it’s going to happen tomorrow, but in the way that Activision sort of alternates sequels of Modern Warfare and Call of Duty and owns the leadership position in FPS [first-person-shooter], between Medal of Honor and Battlefield, I want it back,” he said.
“And we’re going to get there with innovation and quality.”
The new Medal of Honor takes place in modern Afghanistan, and it’s Bad Company 2 counterpoint is now up to scratch the Infinity Ward’s best, the exec claimed.
“The first [Bad Company] did very well in its first outing,” he said. “The next one is a heck of a lot better and it looks like a worthy competitor to Modern Warfare.”
Medal of Honor ships next year for PC, PS3 and 360. Its first movie hits at the VGAs on December 12.

Bad Company 2 PC Beta pushed into 2010 to increase capacity

DICE’s Gordon van Dyke has assured gamers over on the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 forums that the PC Beta has not been canceled, just delayed until early 2010 for more planning.
“I’ll get right to it and say the BFBC2 PC Beta is not canceled,” he wrote. “Now this all started due to changes made to an earlier blog that removed the PC Beta from the details and the reason for this was the plan changed.
“With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta’s capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate. Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.”
He went on to confirm details for the PC version, which include: DX9 -11 support, up to 32 Players on PC (24 on consoles), it runs on Windows XP, Vista, and 7, peripheral support like Joysticks for flying, NVIDIA 3D Vision, Logitech LCD Keyboards and VoIP Support, a dedicated ranked server and loads more.
