Director blames SFX crew over Asura’s Wrath plagiarism accusations
Kung Fu Hustle director Stephen Chow has said he isn’t responsible for alleged plagiarism of CyberConnect 2′s Asura’s Wrath in Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons. Kotaku reports Chow’s representatives told Chinese press that any similarities between the film’s effects and the Capcom-published brawler are the responsibility of a special effects company. Co-director Derek Kwok is known to have seen the game, though.

Asura’s Wrath studio CyberConnect2 has issued a new year’s greetings video on YouTube and along with it, the confirmation that it has at least three entirely new titles in development for 2013.

Asura’s Wrath now available on XBLA Games on demand
CyberConnect2′s explosively dramatic brawler Asura’s Wrath is now available via Xbox Live’s Games on Demand service, for $40. It has its fair share of critics, especially in the “interactive movie” and “too short” camps, but I personally had a blast with Asura’s Wrath’s over-the-top anime leanings; if this sort of thing delights rather than befuddles you, you may be on to a winner.

NPD – Asura’s Wrath moved 36,000 copies, Syndicate 34,000 copies in February
NPD has told Joystiq that Asura’s Wrath moved 36,000 copies in the US during its first week in the US, and EA’s Syndicate was only 2,000 copies short matching those figures with 34,000 copies sold during February. Both games launched on February 21 in the US, giving each eight days before sales were tallied.

Asura’s Wrath launch trailer and DLC screens show an enraged hero
Asura’s Wrath is out today across North America and to celebrate the fact, Capcom has released the game’s launch trailer and some screenshots of the title’s upcoming DLC. The firm said it plans to support the title with “an extensive offering of downloadable content” with the first two exploring what happens between episodes incorporated in the full game. Capcom also said the DLC will offer a completely new artistic style inspired by the world of anime. Asura’s Wrath is out in the US on PS3 and Xbox 360 and will be released in the UK on March 9.

Asura’s Wrath gets Ryu cameo
Capcom has seemingly allowed CyberConnect 2 to allow a cameo featuring Ryu from Street Fighter IV in Asura’s Wrath. The fighter will appear as part of crossover downloadable content for the game, details of which will be made public soon.

Asura’s Wrath gets 360 demo: 10 batshit minutes at 720p
Microsoft put out the Asura’s Wrath demo this afternoon, revealing an insane game based on rockets, gods and quicktime events. Genius cannot be described with words. Watch ten minutes of it below, sans voiceover. It releases in Japan today, in the US on February 21 and in the EU on February 24.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 among promised PSN demos
The latest PlayStation Blogcast has outed a number of demos coming to the US PlayStation Network – Asura’s Wrath, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Grand Slam Tennis 2, Under Siege, and Wanted Corp. Content details were not discussed, and there’s no word on European release yet.

Asura’s Wrath demo to launch on January 10
Capcom Japan’s confirmed it’ll launch the Asura’s Wrath demo in Japan on January 10. Announced in Famitsu yesterday, the taster will let you try a slice of the code on show at Tokyo Game Show in September, featuring the game’s fifth and 11th chapters. The demo will also include new scenes and actions not seen in Tokyo.

Asura’s Wrath demo to drop in January
The latest issue of Famitsu’s reporting this morning that Capcom will launch a demo of Asura’s Wrath on January 10. The taster will include additional content that wasn’t seen in the TGS demo. The full game, coming from CyberConnect2, launches in Japan on February 23, with a European launch on February 24 and in the US on February 21 for PS3 and 360.
