The first patch for Assassin’s Creed II has been announced over on the Ubisoft forums, and it will fix that pesky Hideout glitch that was revealed last week.

Slated to be released today on PS3 and December 11 on Xbox 360, the patch also includes some other fixes such as fast travel, getting stuck under water, crashing, and many other things.

Gamers who did not preorder Assassin’s Creed II from Gamestop need not worry about missing out on the two “exclusive” maps, because Ubisoft plans to release those to the public at a later date.

“Eventually everyone will have the entire game,” the game’s creative director Patrice Desilets told Kotaku. “I made sure of that.

“Because I’m Canadian, I don’t have the same shops as you do. So I wanted to make sure I could at least someday play everything in the game. Eventually there’s going to be, ‘okay, let’s unlock everything’.”

Palazzo Medici and Santa Maria Dei Frari are currently only available through preordering and Desilets did not when the content would be made available nor how much, if anything, it will cost.

A walkthrough video from GamesCom for Assassin’s Creed 2, discussing the in-game mechanics has surfaced.

It talks about the new economic system and reveals two new weapons, one of which is a gun.

An optional Secret Location Mission is also revealed, which was created to reward players with items and test their acrobatics, puzzle skills and stealth.

Game’s out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 17, and we have the video posted after the break courtesy of D’toid.

The first Assassin’s Creed II developer diary has surfaced and it’s through the link.

Game’s been confirmed for a November 17 and 20 release in the US and UK respectively.
