Update: There’s an interview with Raymond and ACII producer Patrice Desilets on Ubisoft’s official E3 site.

Right. What? Jade Raymond’s told the Official PlayStation Magazine in Benelux at E3 this week that she’s been in charge of Assassin’s Creed II development from the start.

“I’m taking a step back from all the press and stuff this time,” she said. “I’m executive producer. Got to let the new producer shine. I had my spotlight on Assassin’s Creed 1.

“I’m very much involved with the team from day one.”

The developer became something of an internet “pin-up” during the first game’s launch build-up.

Raymond has been hidden away since the release of Assassin’s Creed, with Ubi sources constantly telling press they had no idea what she was working on.

Looks like we all know now.

During the Ubisoft event at E3, an Assassin’s Creed 2 trailer was shown.

It showed people dancing in Italy during a festival of sorts, all in masks with fireworks in the background.

We already told you all about it.

Now watch it after the break. Da Vinci is your friend.

Nathan must have missed this in all the excitement last night. According to multiple reports, Ubisoft confirmed Assassin’s Creed 2 for a November 17 release date in its E3 press conference in LA yesterday.

Assassin’s Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction and James Cameron’s Avatar will all have downloadable content when they release this year, Ubisoft said today in its full-year earnings call.

The publisher also confirmed today that all three will make it out this side of 2010.

Speaking in today’s full-year investor call, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot narrowed down release dates by quarter for the following titles:

Q3 (November – December 2009)
Assassin’s Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction; Red Steel 2, Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage and Rabbids Go Home.

Q4 (January 2010 to March 2010)
R.U.S.E., I Am Alive and a new Ghost Recon.

Good news for those dying for the much delayed Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Other than predicting PS3 and Wii price cuts, Gamestop CEO Dan DeMatteo has stated we can expect Assassin’s Creed 2 to land on shelves during November.

Speaking during the same earnings call, he stated that BioShock 2 and Tekken 6 would arrive in October, while Assassin’s Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are expected in November along with “a couple of Nintendo titles coming that have not been announced.”

“So, it looks like actually a very, very strong fall and holiday season,” he said.

Here’s hoping he’s right.

The Assassin’s Creed 2 team stands at around 450 people, producer Sebastien Puel has told NowGamer.

“The team’s size for the second title of Assassin’s Creed 2 is about three times the size of the team of the first game,” said Puel.

“Making [Assassin's Creed] from A to Z took around four years… It’s a very good thing we are keeping most of the core members who envisioned the first Assassin’s Creed. They know the project very well.”

Apparently, “thousands of ideas” not implemented in the first game are making their way to the sequel.

Ubisoft will kick off the Assassin’s Creed II campaign this weekend with both a full trailer and a teaser video appearing on UK television.

The premiere will air on Five during The Da Vinci Code, Sunday at 8pm.

Suppose you will have to sit through the whole thing to catch a glimpse. Shame that.

This will be the first video showing actual footage of the game.

Ubisoft will announce it’s Holiday 2009 line-up during a June 1 press conference at E3.

The invitation only event will be broadcast online for the public the next day via it’s official website.

Assassin’s Creed II, Rabbids Go Home, and Red Steel 2 will be demoed, along with an appearance from special guests and the reveal of unannounced titles.

The event will be hosted by comedian Joel McHale who is the host of E!’s entertainment and pop culture show, The Soup.

Some lovely looking Assassin’s Creed 2 shots have popped up over on the Italian site Mondoxbox.

A few are new, some are not. Doesn’t matter. They’re easy on the eyes, and aren’t scans.

So go have a look.

It’s out this holiday season for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Ubisoft said on Twitter today that there are no plans to go back and provide Trophy support for Assassin’s Creed.

“No we won’t add trophies in Assassin’s Creed PS3 but there will be in Assassin’s Creed 2 for sure,” said the tweet.

So stop asking ‘em already.

The sequel will have them as it’s a mandatory requirement for all new PS3 titles.

We’ve just been told that Ubi’s promising an Assassin’s Creed 2 trailer later today.

The Game Informer cover issue releases in the US today.

Now. We received a postcard from Italy this morning, showing a Venice scene. The postmark, however, isn’t Venetian. There’s nothing written on it at all. Hit the link to see a hi-res shot.

There’s a few reasons why there’s almost certainly something fishy going on here:

1. The image shows Venice. Seen Venice in the news recently?
2. There’s a plaque on the right sporting the words “Da Vinci”. Seen Da Vinci in the news recently?
3. We don’t know anyone in Venice, from Venice, or related to Venice in any way.
4. It’s highly unlikely anyone we do know in Italy would send us a postcard of Venice.
5. We run a videogames website. This is probably about a videogame.

Goonl!ne’s posted up proper scans of the Assassin’s Creed II cover feature from the latest Game Informer.

The images are fully readable, showing that 240 people are working on the game and confirming that all previously leaked info from the piece was true.

Looks like the character shot for Assassin’s Creed 2 that hit earlier this morning was legitimate after all.
