DayZ mod update increases zombie aggro, adds archery features
The DayZ ArmA 2 mod has been updated with the usual pile of new content and fixes. Interesting highlights include resuable arrows; breakable arrows; and quivers. Alarmingly, zombies will now be slowly drawn towards players even when they’re not altered. Full patch notes are available on the mod’s forum. The mod version of DayZ was recently added to Steam; it’s frequently updated with new content, something Bohemia Interactive hopes to continue with the standalone release.

DayZ patch adds bloodborne virus, new weapons
ArmA 2 mod DayZ has been patched, adding a ton of new features. There’s a collection of weapons and food, two new vehicles and the ability to catch viruses and flip ATVs (good luck with that, Dan), for example. Zombies can now damage your vehicle, pull you from it, or even spawn inside unoccupied vehicles, and will be attracted by the sound of trees being felled. Plus a huge pile of fixes; full patch notes are available on the DayZ forums, where incidentally you’ll also find plenty of people chatting about the first DayZ standalone release footage.
Thanks, PCGamer.

Over 180,000 players have logged in over the last 24 hours, and of the 22.6 million characters which have ventured into the world, only 797,742 are alive, with a life expectancy of 49 minutes Hardcore. Ofcom to investigate ITV-ArmA documentary mix-up
Media Regulator Ofcom is to investigate UK broadcaster ITV after it mistakenly aired footage of Bohemia Interactive’s ArmA 2 as real-life footage of the IRA shooting down a helicopter with weapons provided by now-deposed Libyan leader Colonel Gadaffi. The footage was aired as part of the first episode of real-affairs show Exposure: Gadaffi and the IRA last month. ITV had said at the time it blamed “human error” for the gaffe, but apologised nonetheless. Ofcom’s now kicked off its investigation to see if ITV was in breach of the body’s broadcasting code.
