Dishonored patch rolling out this week
Ahead of the release of the Knife of Dunwall DLC next week, Arkane Studios has prepared a title update for last year’s top-rated new IP debut, Dishonored. Patch 1.3 corrects a number of bugs in the base game and Dunwall City Trials DLC, most of which are rare but annoying little glitches that interfere with your well-laid stealth plans. See the full change log on the Bethesda Blog, and expect the patch on all platforms over the next few days.

Half Life 2: Return to Ravenholm – rumored shots of canceled episode appear
Purported shots of a canceled Half Life 2 episode called Return to Ravenholm have been posted over on ValveTime. The alleged screenshots show off a collaborative effort between Valve and Arkane Studios. Half Life designer Marc Laidlaw confirmed back in January 2012 that the episode was in the works at one time, and despite some “cool stuff” having been created, it was canceled due to the headcrab and zombie contents being “pretty much played out,” and it taking place “sometime before the end of Episode 2.” Go have a look at the shots for yourself through the link.

Dishonored has 40,000 words of text, 90,000 of dialogue
Did you read all the books in Dishonored? I admit I may have skimmed a few, but in my defence, a report on PC Gamer suggests there are 40,000 words of text in Dishonored, which is a reasonable novel’s length. I did listen to a lot of dialogue though, and probably so did you, as it has almost 90,000 words of voice work. Arkane drew inspiration from a diverse range of sources for the immersive sim’s colourful writing, including authors such as Herman Melville, Mervyn Peake, Thomas Burke, Charles Dickens, H. P. Lovecraft, Michael Moorcock and Neil Gaiman; movies like Gangs of New York, Perfume and Anonymous; and music such as The Decemberists, Picaresque and Her Majesty. Also, you can set people on fire; still one of my favourite games.
