SCEE has been fined £250,000 by the UK Information Commissioners Office over the infamous 2011 PSN date breach that sparked a panic among the press and gamers for fear that credit card data and other sensitive information was at risk. The National Police in Spain have arrested three suspected members of the hacktivist group Anonymous, and according to the Spanish Policia Nacional website, one of the people arrested was hosting a server out of their home which supported DDoS attacks on businesses, websites, financial institutions and government agencies around the globe – as well as the website for the PlayStation Store.

Hacktivist group Anonymous has released a video message to PSN users over the fact US and EU online PlayStation services have been down since Wednesday, denying it had any involvement. Sony has already said PSN was taken offline thanks to an “external intrusion” and is currently working on “rebuilding” the “system”.
