Funcom has announced it’s closing its Beijing studio, while at the same time forming a “joint, centralized live team” at its Raleigh, North Carolina studio. The firm also announced its Montreal Studio’s focus will switch to mobile and tablet projects.

The Secret World developer Funcom has confirmed it is undergoing a major restructuring, but will not close any of its existing MMOs – quite the opposite, in fact.

Anarchy Online’s expansion and upgrade plans have been downgraded slightly as the MMO’s development team endures Funcom’s recent job cuts.

Not loads to tell you this week in the MMO update. Most news surrounding the genre was big enough for its very own post on the site.
However, to keep things the same, we have thrown all the rest into your usual Saturday post.
Final Fantasy XI players will have jobs adjusted, Runes of Magic has new playable classes, the EVE Online thief speaks out, and Funcom has no plans right now for an Anarchy Online 2.

Sure, the more important MMO stories gets their own pieces during the week, but what about all games that aren’t World of Warcraft? Where does that leave them? Here in our MMO news round-up, obviously.
