But what’s that mean for the wide world of videogames? Not much, actually, if analysts Michael Pachter and Jesse Divnich are to be believed.

Michael Pachter and Pacific Crest analyst Evan Wilson both offered their predictive take on tomorrow’s NPD numbers, by citing how much of a percentage Modern Warfare 2 contributed to November’s total game sales.

Pachter said that the title made up 23 percent of total game sales, but Wilson said that it contributed 25 percent.

“Modern Warfare comprises an estimated 25 percent of this month’s industry sales,” said Wilson. “While this is not out of the ordinary for a tent-pole title in a non-holiday month, it is impressive given our forecast that this November’s sales will match the month’s highest historical total on record.

“For comparison, Halo 2 reached 20 percent of industry sales in November 2004. The next highest share taker was Guitar Hero III at 12 percent in November 2007.”

Wilson predicted that November software sales will come in at around $1.45 billion year-over-year, and Pachter predicted a 7 percent jump over November 2008′s $1.55 billion.

Guess we’ll see tomorrow who was closest.

Analyst David Cole of DFC Intelligence has told Industry Gamers that it won’t be long before Microsoft released a slimmer version of Xbox 360.

“I think it is a question of when not if,” he told the site. “However, the when part is a big uncertainty … rumors have been going on for a long time. I think people were asking me the same question last year at this time. As cost efficiencies allow smaller and more reliable is always a good thing. However, you also have something like Project Natal which could also tie in with hardware redesigns.

“There are a lot of questions Microsoft must weigh internally and there are always going to arguments on both sides of the fence around timing. So I don’t know, but in our DFC forecasts we anticipated a major redesign in 2010….so I guess that was our bet.”

While the other three analysts the site spoke with, Tom Greenwald of Signal Hill, Arvind Bhatia from Sterne Agee and Broadpoint AmTech’s Ben Schachter, do not agree with him, each do foresee a new SKU redesigned with Project Natal for 2010.

IFIS (International Financial Information Service) has produced data on analysts and their predictions of Capcom’s share price in Japan, and the vast majority of them showed a large arrow going up.

In fact, out of the 20 firms listed, not a single one had a “sell” recommendation on Capcom stock, with the lowest rating out of the lot being “neutral.”

This is fantastic. Kotaku’s gone through all predictions various analysts have made in the last year and stacked them up on reliability. We ignored the first part of this feature. Just because. But someone really has gone to a stupid amount of effort to make the magic happen, here. Do them a favour and look at it. It’s got a coloured graph, and everything.
