AMD ships 50 millionth ATI ‘Hollywood’ graphics processor for Wii

AMD has pressed the 50 millionth ATI ‘Hollywood’ graphics processor for Wii, which makes it one of the most successful AMD game console chips to date.
AMD’s been providing Nintendo with graphics solutions for 10 years, including the GameCube era.
“Nintendo values its ongoing relationship with AMD. AMD’s graphics technology expertise as displayed in the ATI ‘Hollywood’ chip is a great part of the momentum of Wi,” said Nintendo’s Genyo Takeda.
“Our combined efforts help deliver entertaining experiences to create many smiling faces in living rooms around the world.”

GDC: PC Gaming Alliance announced
As expected, major PC companies have announced the PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA) today at GDC, a non-profit organisation backed by Microsoft, Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, Dell/Alienware, Acer/Gatway, Activision, Epic Games and Razer. The group expects to grow throughout the year.
The idea of the Alliance is not only to promote PC gaming to the public, but to “drive developers, publishers and hardware makers.”

Delayed Phenoms to be shown at CeBit
AMD’s will show its upcoming Phenom CPUs (currently showing less than monster (rumoured) benchmarks) at CeBit 2008, so say company sources here.
“Due to the TLB (translation lookaside buffer) bug, AMD has postponed the launch of its upcoming quad-core Phenom 9700 CPU to the second quarter of 2008, however the company is planning to showcase the CPU at CeBIT 2008 in March along with 9900 and 9100e models, according to sources at motherboard makers.”
CeBit is Germany’s gigantic annual computer fair, to be held this year in Hannover on from March 4-9.
