Amazon’s set top box is slated for release around the holidays, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Rumors around the box have been swirling for a while and last we heard the system could be using a Qualcomm MPQ chip which is part of the Snapdragon processor line used in smart TVs and set-top boxes already in homes around the world. The box is said to make use of the firm’s Amazon Prime video streaming service, and will also run apps, play some Android games and stream music. Those in the US looking for a gaming deal this weekend should head over to Amazon and digitally download XCOM: Enemy Unknown if they don’t already own it. The game along with the Elite Soldier and Slingshot DLC can be had for a mere $10. XCOM’s Enemy Within expansion is coming out on November 12, and it will run you $30 by itself, so this is a bargain, and comparable to the $40 Commander Edition coming to PS3 and Xbox 360.
