Alone in the Dark PS3: additional content possible
From Benjamin over at Eurogamer.de:
Atari told us yesterday that the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark is coming out in autumn. Eden Studios wants to adapt it instead of just doing a simple port. Additional content (episodes) might be possible for the PS3 version.
Demo is coming close to release. If possible they are going to release it prior to the game.
The news is taken from this preview, which includes some new screens. If you can’t speak German, learn it. Stop being so lazy.

Alone in the Dark demo for early May
According to a post on the official Atari forums, the demo of survival horror Alone in the Dark is going to be happening sooner rather than later.
“It’s in the plans for both PC and X360,” said an Atari admin. “Target date is early May.”
The game itself was pushed back a few weeks recently, and will now ship in late June in both the US and Europe.

Alone in the Dark to sell 2-3 million units, says Infogrames
According to this Reuters report, new Infogrames boss David Gardner has very high hopes for Alone in the Dark, releasing this June.
“Over the life of the product in this business year across platforms we are expecting between 2 and 3 million units,” he said.
Gardner also said that his priority now he’s taken over as CEO is to get the company back to break-even. Like, dur.
“We want to stop losing money,” he said. “This management’s team number one goal is to get a business plan together that gets us to a break-even level.”

Atari asks you to take pictures of “bizarre scenes witnessed in parks”
This could either be great or go, horribly, horribly wrong. Atari’s launched a “sinister sightings” competition for Alone in the Dark, to run to June 26, inviting “intrepid photographers to upload their original photos of creepy and bizarre scenes witnessed in parks onto the photo gallery for the chance to win soundtrack CD’s and ultimately an Xbox 360 console.”
We’re saying nothing. Find the competition at the official site. Press release after the link.

Alone in the Dark for June 20 in Europe and June 24 in US
Speaking to videogaming247, Atari has just confirmed that Alone in the Dark will hit Europe on June 20 in Europe and June 24 in the US.
The game has been put back from May to ensure the game’s as good as it can be.
“The game has been delayed to allow Eden Games – obviously, they’re an Atari-owned studio – to polish the game to an even higher standard. We want to deliver the best possible experience to gamer, because we have a remarkable product,” said a rep.
“We’ve been getting an incredible response from the people that have seen it in demos. We’ll soon be supplying code to the market.”
This date relates to the 360, PC, PS2 and Wii versions. A PS3 release will follow later this year, the rep said.

Alone in the Dark gets intro and movie
Here. There’s a big blog update there from Alone in the Dark’s American producer, Todd Slepian, some new screens (we think) and a new movie. All looking good for a May release, seemingly.

Alone in the Dark date announcement likely “in the next month”
Atari has indicated that confirmation of a solid release date for the stunning-looking Alone in the Dark is likely to happen before the end of March.
“Just May for now, I’m afraid,” said an Atari rep, speaking to vidoegaming247 this morning, “but we don’t have a specific date I can give you now, unfortunately. In the next month we should have a better idea.”
The spokesperson gave an emphatic “yes” when asked if the survival horror game would make its launch. Which is hella good news.
The game’s down for PC, 360, Wii and PS2 for May. The PS3 version’s still TBC. Watch for a final release date soon.

New Alone in the Dark movie: OMFG
Sorry, we missed this yesterday. Below is the second of Atari’s “Real World Rules” trailers to show of Alone in the Dark tech. It looks absolutely bloody awesome, if we’re being honest, showing how to control items in the hand, move ropes with pipes, set chairs on fire, use fire extinguishers, and so on. Really, do watch it.

Uber-cool Alone in the Dark movie released
A tech demo movie of Atari’s Alone in the Dark shows for the first time what a few key journalists have been quacking on about for the past six months – it really does looks amazing, at least from a technical standpoint. The New York-based horror game is set to release in May for consoles and PC. Well worth a look.

New Atari games confirmed with financials
In Atari’s relentlessly bleak financials yesterday were a bunch of game confirmations we missed. Silly us.
Alone in the Dark will ship in this financial year, ending April 2009, as will a second Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion pack, which as yet has no name.
Also revealed was a game called Airborne Rangers, out next April for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Other games included in the statement were aimed at the younger end of the markey, such as Panoramix Brain Trainer, Lucky Luke: Dalton, Hogs of War 2, Asterix at the Olympic Games, and My Horse & Me 2.

Alone in the Dark site live
Here. Looking very promising, this. The next instalment in Atari’s survival horror franchise – set in New York’s Central Park and tipped by journalists as a real eye-opener in the current-gen action stakes – is now slated for May release. The website has a section for “mutant trees”, which is worth looking at in itself.
