Alone in the Dark was only sent to Gamereactor yesterday, says Atari
Danish site Xbox Life is reporting that Atari only sent Alone in the Dark to Gamereactor Norway to review yesterday.
The site’s 3/10 review was only up for four hours before Gamereactor.no pulled it.
Xbox Life reckons its staff have played the game and it’s much more than a ’3′.
We’re saying nothing.

First Alone in the Dark reviews point to shoeing
Update: Eurogamer’s given it 7/10.
Uh oh. The first reviews for Atari’s Alone in the Dark are in, and it’s not looking so hot. Gamereactor’s given the game 3/10 in a now-pulled review, and X360′s just posted up a 6/10.
These are the only two so far, as far as we know. The game’s out for PS2, Wii, 360 and PC on Friday. We’re saying nothing.
Thanks, Blerk.

How Alone in the Dark got made – movie
Atari’s released a “making of” movie for Alone in the Dark. Well, the intro to it, anyway. It’s a few minutes of the Eden Games bods talking about the game’s original pitch, how over-ambition sent them back to the drawing board, and so on.
After the link. The game releases for PC, Xbox 360, PS2 and Wii this Friday.

New Alone in the Dark Wii movie released
After the break. The movie shows the Eden horror working with the Wii-mote, as you’d expect, and looks plenty good. The Wii version’s out on June 20, which, again, is cool. Take a look.

Alone in the Dark gold
Atari’s announced that Alone in the Dark is now gold for 360, PC, Wii and PS2.
“With its genre-busting mix of gameplay, wide-screen presentation style and DVD chapter select feature putting the player in control, Alone in the Dark will thrill all gamers,” said Infogrames boss Phil Harrison. “It’s a game which will challenge the player but also reward them with a one-of-a-kind video game experience and a huge amount of fun.”
It’s out on June 20 in Europe. Press release after the link.

New Alone in the Dark movie shows combat
On GamersHell. This should probably come out quickly before everyone gets bored of it. Luckily, it is: the Atari horror releases on June 20. Take a look at Edward doing the do in New York in the meantime.

Alone in the Dark delayed on PS3 because “it’s not performing as well”
Phil Harrison refused to talk about the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark in London last week, but that didn’t stop producer Nour Polloni explaining why the SKU was arriving well after the 360 game. In a nutshell, the frame-rate’s borked.
“There’s no firm date yet but what we can say is that it’s coming out this year,” Polloni told Videogamer.com. “In terms of why it’s coming out later, we have the full game running on PS3 and all the features, no problem. The thing is it’s not performing as well on PS3 as we hope it is in terms of frame-rate and all that. We didn’t want it to come out and have less of an experience for the PS3 gamer. We wanted to tweak that up and make sure they get the best experience on PS3 as much as possible.”
Polloni also said that both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Alone in the Dark will contain the same content, but added that PS3 owners won’t be disappointed when they finally get the horror game.
“It will be really worth it,” she said. “It’s something that we didn’t want to deceive the players. That’s why we preferred waiting. And I know it’s tough but we want them to wait to be able to get that same experience.”
There’s a full interview with Polloni here.

Harrison won’t commit to Alone in the Dark PS3 Home and Trophy support
Talking to the MTV multiplayer blog, Infogrames president Phil Harrison would not say one way or the other if Alone in the Dark PS3 will feature Home and trophy support.
“If the libraries are available, then yeah, I would hope that the PS3 version can take advantage of that,” he told the site.
Alone in the Dark will be available on 360, PC, Wii and PS2 next month with the PS3 version scheduled for “later this year.”

Win a trip to New York with Alone in the Dark
Atari’s launched a “Keep the Fire Burning” competition for Alone in the Dark on the game’s official site.
Prizes include a week-long trip to New York or Paris, Xbox 360 and Wii consoles and other stuff including original soundtrack CDs, t-shirts and art books.
The competition sounds like some odd chain letter affair, where you have to pass a virtual flame onto friends. The competition runs until July 31.
Press release after the link.

Interview: Phil Harrison on Alone in the Dark and life after Sony
Atari rolled out the red carpet in London last week for its pre-launch showing of Alone in the Dark, flying in a tired-looking Phil Harrison from New York to intro the game and give a few interviews. Talking to the big man is always a pleasure, and this time especially so, given his recent move from SCEE where he’d been ensconced for the past 15 years.
Harrison was in the UK to talk about the Eden action-adventure, but did answer a few questions on what it’s been like to join ex-EA boss David Gardner at Atari, the future of the firm in general, affirmation of his belief that unconnected single-players games are tomorrow’s dodos, and how he’s been busy making a bunch of new friends.

Alone in the Dark is 15 hours long
In the Q&A session after today’s London showing of Atari’s Alone in the Dark, the game’s producer, Nour Polloni, confirmed that the game would take around 15 hours to play through if you didn’t stop to take in the scenery.
The French developer said that it would take approximately twice as long for the completists in the audience.
Polloni was speaking after a lengthy presentation of the game at the Everyman Cinema Club in Hampstead this afternoon. Read our live blog of the presentation here.

Alone in the Dark London event kicks off at 1.30pm BST
Atari’s holding the UK version of this week’s US Alone in the Dark event in London this afternoon, at the Everyman Cinema Club in Hampstead.
Phil Harrison’s going to be introducing the game, as he did in America, and we’ll be interviewing him after the presentation. There are loads of gamers here as opposed to press, so the Q&A should be fun.
Here’s the schedule:
- 1.30pm – Welcome note from Atari UK
- 1.35pm – Phil Harrison speech
- 1.45pm – Presentation of Alone in the Dark (The brand, the vision, the
game) by Nour Polloni (Producer) - 3pm – Open forum – Questions and answers
We’re pretty sure the content of all this is going to be exactly the same as the event in San Francisco on Monday, but we’ll bring it to you live nonetheless. There are plugs (woot) and the connection looks fine, so hopefully nothing’ll go wrong. Famous last words, obviously.
Keep checking back for updates and photos.

Harrison: Atari’s done with one-player gaming
Speaking to Gamasutra, Atari games boss Phil Harrison has admitted that Alone in the Dark may well be the final “core” game Atari makes.
“I don’t see that we’re going to be making huge-budget, single-player games in the future,” he said.
“Now, that doesn’t mean that we won’t have ambition to do really incredible games that have high quality, high execution, and high innovation, but they won’t be one-player, narrative-driven, start-middle-end games.”
We’re interviewing Phil later today. Anything you want us to ask him?

US Alone in the Dark showing brings Phil Harrison, previews, videos, music, end of days
A mass of media released overnight from a showing of Alone in the Dark in San Francisco on Monday.
The event was led by Phil Harrison himself, who gave video interviews to IGN and GameVideos (links below) and presented a lengthy showing of the game, as you can see in the movies after the break.
There’s a wealth of stuff there for you, and from what we’ve seen this morning the game’s looking genuinely hot.
As Harrison put it, “Technically and creatively they’re hitting a lot of high points. They’re putting the game into a very contemporary setting, but delivering that fantasy horror in a reall effective way, and I think as you saw in the presentation, there are a few moments that are absolute classic videogame moments. Being blown out of the side of a building and seeing the expanse of Central Park laid out in front of you, or driving the 59th Street level when the whole world is collapsing around you: it’s a real outstanding videogame moment.”
Fill your boots. Alone in the Dark’s out for PC and 360 on June 20 in Europe.

Actual, proper, real hands-on with Alone in the Dark
Gamespot’s actually played Alone in the Dark, then written words about it on the internet. The piece runs from the beginning of the game and takes in combat, the inventory system, explosions, fire and fighting a zombie with a frying pan. In summary:
Overall we were really impressed with the way Alone in the Dark is shaping up. While there are still some issues at this stage, it’s an ambitious game that looks set to reboot the franchise in style.
Read it yourself.

Alone in the Dark Wii controls shown in movie
JeuxVideo’s posted a movie of the Wii version of Alone in the Dark in action. There’s quite a lot of footage there of the French product manager of the Wii and PS2 versions putting the game through its paces, showing off how the Wiimote works, and so on. Worth a look.

New Alone in the Dark tech demo movie released
This one’s fire-based, and shows off a lot of physics stuff that will presumably be used in puzzles. It’s all looking very nice, still, but we’d really like to see some of the game now, if we’re being honest. Movie’s after the link.
