Randy Pitchford has described the gameplay experience of Aliens: Colonial Marines as being more akin to “gritty realism” than a typical action-shoot. Don’t you fret though: the “definitely” has plenty of action.

SEGA has released a new video for Aliens: Colonial Marines, showing off a bit of gameplay from the Gearbox shooter. When we say “a bit”, we really mean it. Originally slated for spring, the game will now be released in the fall on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, with a Wii U version to come. Thanks, EvilAvatar.

Gearbox has released a 10-minute video walkthrough of the Aliens: Colonial Marines demo it’s been showing at trade shows since it was formally re-announced at E3 this year. Gearbox CCO Brian Martel has said the developer is looking to scare the player a bit with Aliens: Colonial Marines, but at the end of the day, it’s more of a co-op shooter than a horror title.

The old Alien movie phrase “In space no one can hear you scream”, is not exactly true of this new video from Gearbox. There is plenty of screaming going on, and we’re sure someone is hearing it. Sega studio Creative Assembly is working on a new Alien game for consoles, the developer confirmed in a press conference this morning, and is aiming for the very top with the project.
