PS3 hits 50 million units sold, Move passes 8 million

Following the release of last night’s NPD figures, Sony’s confirmed that PS3 has now passed the 50 million sales mark and that motion controller Move has now sold more than 8 million units.

Nikkei: Wii to pass 50 million sales this month

Nikkei.net’s predicted that Wii will pass the 50 million global sales barrier this month.

He machine went on sale in 2006.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata’s keynoting GDC this afternoon, so don’t be hugely shocked if this gets announced.

PSP has sold-in more than 50 million units worldwide, says Sony

PSP has now sold-in more than 50 million units globally, Sony announced today.

Around 9 million units have been added to the console’s installed base since August 2008.

The machine launched on December 12, 2004 in Japan; March 24, 2005 in the US; and September 1, 2005 in Europe.

The PlayStation 2’s tenure as God-Emperor King of videogame consoles may be coming to a close, but at least it’s going out on a high note. According to a report by The Associated Press, the nearly nine year-old machine’s cash emissions are vomit-inducingly high, with 50 million units sold in the U.S. alone.

Will the PS2 break 60 million units, though? Well, that depends on Sony who – even though PS2 sales have nearly halved since last year – doesn’t plan on tossing the system aside just yet.

“We don’t intend on discarding the system any time soon,” said Sony Computer Entertainment America hardware marketing director John Koller.
