Ghost Recon 3DS to be turn-based squad game with “Advance Wars feel”

ghostreconsw_2

Despite appearances to the contrary, the 3DS’ launch lineup isn’t all quick ports whose biggest upgrades are the addition of “3D” to their titles. Case in point: Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. It’s a brand new turn-based tactical game from none other than the creator of X-Com himself, Julian Gollop.

Yes, yes, we know Ocarina of Time is the greatest game of all time [citation needed], but Shadow Wars looks to be a pretty darn promising upstart. Read all about it after the break.

Full Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright trailer is the most implausible thing you’ll ever see

laytonvswright_1

So there’s this girl who looks like Little Red Riding Hood, and she’s a witch. Or maybe she’s not a witch. Anyway, Professor Layton – who we still say looks like a Lego man – starts accusing her, only for Phoenix Wright to show up and point his finger with such fiery intensity that Layton reconsiders. We think. And then they go on adventures, and Little Red Riding Hood gets chased by the KKK.

So basically, this looks incredible. Check out the first trailer after the break, courtesy of the official Layton vs. Wright website.

3DS to have its own Virtual Console with Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles [Updated]

gameboypics

Update: For the time being, Game Boy Advance titles are a no-go. Iwata only specifically mentioned Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. And, surprisingly, when we write something, it doesn’t magically become fact. Shame, huh? Our bad.

Original article: Final hardware? Saw it coming. Release date? Duh. Who calls a press conference without one of those?

Wait, a 3DS Virtual Console, you say? Interesting. Tell us more.

Reggie: 3DS coming to “all major markets” by March 2011

3dsbig

3D? On a handheld? Without glasses? Preposterous! That sounds like something straight out of the far-flung future.

According to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, however, the future is a little less than a year off for “all major territories” – not just Japan. Guess we need to start jetpack-proofing our collection of ugly jumpsuits.
