Capcom offering gaming soundtracks through iTunes

Capcom has put two of it’s gaming soundtracks up on iTunes.

1942: Joint Strike and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 are the offerings and both were revamped by Sumthing Else Music Works and Gem Impact.

Capcom’s 1942: Joint Strike and the first level pack for ninja platform thing N+ are now both up on XBLA, should you feel the need. We’re going to have a look at 1942 later, just for fun. Maybe you should too.

1942: Joint Strike releases for XBLA today (update)

As pointed out on one of the official Capcom blogs, arcade update 1942: Joint Strike launches on XBLA today, presumably worldwide. We’ll be getting a bit of this later. It’ll cost you a standard 800 MS Points.

Update: The Capcom site’s been updated to assure PS3 owners that the game will hit PSN tomorrow.

According to this Eurogamer report, 1942: Joint Strike will release for Live on July 23 and PSN the following day.

After the link. The PSN and Live downloadable shooter update is down for a “summer” release, so hopefully we’ll be seeing it sooner rather than later. The video compares the old games to the new, and pretty much does make us want to play it all day. Have a look.

Capcom’s released a press release that should become the model for all press releases. Seriously, it’s the shit. Short, unintentionally funny and about a game we used to deliver newspapers to play in the 80s. We already love 1942: Joint Strike.

1942: Joint Strike Fact Sheet

1942: Joint Strike takes inspiration and influence from the ‘80s 194X’s series of Capcom vertical arcade shooters. The art, sound and gameplay give the player hints of the 194X series, but will standout as it’s own unique entry. Gameplay will essentially be 2D, but the game will utilize a fully 3D engine.

The game takes place during a seemingly WWII like era. Locales, vehicles and weapons have the look and feel of WWII with some stylistic differences. The world in which 1942: Joint Strike takes place is not our own and the events that transpire are not historically accurate nor are they intended to be. This is a world alternate to ours where history and technology developed along its own path.

Classic arcade style gameplay with 3D HD graphics!

New Joint Strike attacks, weapons, and power ups!

2 player local or online missions!

Bloody hell. Capcom’s announced a new 1942 game for XBLA and PSN this summer, titled 1942: Joint Strike. The 2D shooter supports co-op play off-line and online, the “joint trike” bit allowing you to team up with your buddy to perform any of three Joint Strike attacks. It’s going to cost 800 MS Points. We will be buying this. There’s a movie through that link.
