YES! It has happened, although it's only happened in Iran. I can imagine a few other places that their situation is similar to ours like Cuba and North Korea.
As of Saturday, government applied restricted to UDP and HTTPS ports to prevent tunneling and bypassing the governments filtering program. In this new method of mass torture the connection between the client and the host will be automatically cut off after 60 to 90 seconds. As you know apart from the tunneling and proxy bypass measures, UDP ports and HTTPS ports are also used by majority of Game clients that are required online authentication. As a result of this, online gaming was the first casualty.
We can no longer play any games online. Steam is out, couldn't play anything Since saturday, FIFA 13, BF3, Neverwinter, TSW, DayZ, DotA 2, LoL, etc. They'll all disconnect a minute after logging in.
They killed it folks and I'm raging hopelessly at the moment, since we can't do shit about it.
Completely and utterly sad and broken. They intend to cut us off from the world entirely by the end of Ahmadinejad's presidency.
Online gaming aside, it'll be a whole lot harder for us to communicate with the world, access unbiased news, information and a lot of other things.
