I was just thinking about the best selling games of UK and the difference between BioShock I and TR.
Square calling TR a failure is related to its budget. They have obviously spent a lot on in it YET a decent chunk of that budget has definitely gone to multiplayer. Knowing how TR has always been a singleplayer game, I don't think multiplayer has had any significant effect on its sales.
In other words, they spent serious money on a feature that didn't help the sales. Same thing must have happened with EA and Dead Space 3 (The forced co-op mode that nobody asked for).
Can't these companies see that pointless multiplayer features in primarily singleplayer games are nothing but wasted money / budget for them? It's like burning cash if TR is any indication.
