I almost don't want to post this DSB. One because everyone knows that reall football is played in the snow, Cleveland, Denver, Buffalo, GreenBay not along some mild and and postcard worthy coast line in the west! But also because this might be miss seen as a plug for a certian system. but it isn't.
I have been a huge football fan so long as I can remember. But I have always purchased and played NCAA football. Because of the wide open offense(I love running the option), I also enjoyed selecting one off over 100teams. I enjoyed the fact that every season you have new players and graduate old ones. It keeps the game fresh season after season.
However, Madden 13 on WiiU is the best Madden I have ever played. Hands down. The on field action is the best football game I have ever played period. The game is complete, no DLC. That is nice. It plays online or offline as you would expect. Has all of the bells and whistles you would expect. With the team Salery cap on the seasons get rather tuff to maintain your roster. The choach can gain experience, use that xp to buy packages(like increase XP gain from say..WRs or LBs)(or)(increase weekly scouting points) Gives it a RPG feeling. Likewise your individual players can also gain xp and use their xp to increase stats or buy packages like Tight spiral for QBs. really hits that RPG feel. But the use of the Gamepad makes the game.
When I break huddle and walk to the line, I can tap a WR, and then draw the route I want him to run. Not pick from some predone stuff, but actualy draw it myself. I can do that to WRs, RBs, TEs. It allows me to create exactly the offense I want to run. I can flood the middle lb zone with both RBs, while sending a TE deeper behind the LBs. I can stack on side of the field, then force a safty and cb to try and cover three or four players. So many possibilities. It also works on defense too.
I can spot coverage on every down. I can double team or highlight offensive players with the tap of the gamepad screen. People like to bitch about lack of inovation. But there it is. It is inovative and it works fantastic. I would like to see this type of thing on other systems. Because I get the feeling that Madden 13 might be the last Madden on WiiU.
If you like Madden, or just football. You need to at least try it. I wouldn't have bought a WiiU for Madden of all things. I got the game for Xmass, But after playing it..I would would now buy the system just for that game alone. It is that good.
Graphicly it is on par with Madden 12 which I played on xb360.
Hard to recomend buying a whole system, esp at 350usd, just for one game. But...it is a damn fine experience. Make sure you give it a go if you can DSB.
Note, I run the Bill Walsh offense, 2 rbs, very fast quick passes. Methodical. Drives other players nuts. I pointed out Bill Walsh because of the west cost niners remarks you made.
