Guys, more views on PS4-
Looking great indeed!
Agreed. People may want entertainment box, but I like Sony's dev and gamer friendly approach. Look, early adopters are hardcore gamers, not people who want Netflix (which is already available everywhere, no need to buy new hardware for that). So I think this approach will provide Sony an early lead, and after that, they can focus on family and casual market afterwards, when PS4 will have a price drop.
And I agree that pricing will be a major factor.
But I disagree on Vita, the thing you mentioned is only applicable in the West, that is where Sony faltered, they tried to focus on the West instead of East with Vita.
And games "SELL" on Vita. Its a popular myth that Vita games don't sell. Every major 3rd party exclusive- COD, AC have sold 600k+ on Vita, and even good multiplats sell well (like NFS, around 400k).
And it provides a better game selling platform for indies than ios/android, a random hit market-
And combine that with ease of development (RCR had a vita playable version in just 1 day), means more Vita indie games.
As I said to Redwood, I only see Sony going wrong with Vita on one aspect- focusing on a dying western market than the handheld centric Eastern market. Even 3ds isnt very hot in NA, Eu and Japan are major handheld markets. I don't see a price cut or making mem cards cheaper helping, since for many Westerners smartphone games are enough. Maybe all those price cuts AND some AAA games will do the trick. I am hoping this year will be better for Vita, as price cut Jp shows that they understand their initial folly, and integrating Vita with PS4 may do the trick in the west (but not too sure about this).
Dont go TL;DR on me, please :D It took a long time to write this.
