Tough to explain what I mean by this, but in a nut shell, what part of gaming do you personally find the most rewarding or gratifying?
For me it is the close co-operation aspect of multiplayer or even human vs ai games. I have played MW 1/2 to death and got pretty good at it, but ultimately it just isn't as fun as a game where you achieve something through team work or co-operation. I find, even if you lose narrowly against the opposing team, be they human or AI, the rewards are just as high.
Maybe this is why, in my old age I am leaning more towards PC and PC type titles. No longer having the reflexes of an 8 year old full of gatorade means the first person shooter is waning for me in terms of success. Yes I can compensate by being smart and sneaky instead, but it does irritate people.
So now I'm into the co-op thing where team play is essential. Yes a bit of comp stomp Company of Heros, or some Chivalry Medieval warfare or Planetside 2 feels just different. Suddenly its not just about putting a gunsight on a player pushing a button its about an objective and team goal.
Anyone else finding that, contrary to expectations, even with gaudy graphics, bigger and newer maps, more and more variety in guns, the same age old FPS formula is getting stale in MP? Is this where Butthurtfield and modernwhorefare get off the bus? Is there a role for a game which provides a more accessible offering to the player, but which matches the team aspect of a game like Arma?
