I would so people knew I could. Then I'd shave it off so people knew I didn't need it. I pretty sure people spend a lot time reading too much into other peoples' beards.
Maybe I'm just insecure because I can only only grow a chin-strap that doesn't quite connect with my hair.

@epic_wanderer: down that path lies doom and destruction and years of growing a beard only to shave it off again after 2 weeks. It's taken me years to settle on my now comfortable default salt and pepper goatee... and that's only because I quite like looking like Gordon Freeman, and my partner and my 3 year old daughter both cry when they see my real face underneath.
/will never shave again.

Riker was my hero when I was young. I even had him on my answering machine shouting 'Shields Up! Red Alert!'
TNG was awesome. Anyone seen the trailer for the new ST film? It's going to suck balls - when did Vulcan's start fist-fighting? The whole ST ethic has been lost in the move to a cash-cow.
