   Okay, first of all, I still have not played Metal Gear Rising. My game rental store only has one example to rent and it's rented every time i try to get my hands on it. Still WANT to play it though I don't think it's worth the high price tag. Will probably buy it if it's around 30 euros.

   So anyway, I was surfing the net today and stumbled upon a new Meme called 'Nanomachines, Son'.

   Wow, this is bad. Can someone who played the game explain to me how this scene fits the narrative? This is cringeworthy by definition. That's something I would expect to find in a Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg movie, but in MGS?

   Wow, how did this get passed? I mean people wrote that, animated it, did the voiceover and not a single person interfered to ask "What the Fuck are we doing?"

   Did the games narrative shift it's focus midway through? Because judging by the demo it was trying to be super-edgy and serious.

   I'm near the end now, I think. I'm fighting that dude.

   I have mostly liked the game but about a third of the way in (so not very far) the story does decide to take a rather retarded approach to everything.

   Some of the script and voice acting is nothing short of awful and towards the end it really suffers from the MG-Syndrome of long winded, convoluted and nonsensical cut scenes.

   Overall it started off great but the clips above are some of the worst parts of this game and sadly there are quite a few.

   That was actually something I had expected. One of the trailers gave you a hint, Raiden suddenly started to talk about getting off on cutting people in half was nothing but absurd.

   But I never expected this. This is a completely different caliber.

   The game is completely let down by the script and plot. I'm not even sure how I got from A to B most of the time.

   Maybe some of this would have made more sense if I knew more about Raiden as this was really my first outing with him but I doubt it.

   If you go back and look at the marketing, it looked like the games story would put a little light on Jacks history as a child soldier, with some cameos of Solidus.

   No such thing. Disappointing to say the least.

   I love that boss. He's like the perfect ending to the game. And the "nanomachines, son" line, to me, is just an amazing "fuck you" to everyone who bitched about the storyline in MGS4. This game obviously isn't for you. Move on. I'll enjoy it in your place.

   You're probably right and this game is getting traded in sharpish as soon as I finish it. I have no interest in going back to get an "S" rating. Having played DmC recently, that really outshone MGR.

   I'm absolutely in love with MGR. I've been saving the VR missions for last, though, because S-ranking Revengeance mode is going to take me getting a whole lot better at parrying, especially when it comes to the Monsoon and Sam battles. Trying to do no damage runs on Hard mode is, well, hard enough.

   But yeah, that boss made me laugh out loud at the giant middle finger it gave to everyone who complained about nanomachines in MGS4.

   Or they embraced how bad the story of MGS4 was.

   "This game obviously isn't for you. Move on."

   Oh no, I'll definitely still want play it. The demo was a lot of fun, just disappointed that the games script seems to completely fall apart around the end. Even if the gameplay gets boring, I'll play it so can laugh about how bad the script is.

   @viral: Played the Vergil DLC yet? I was kind of disappointed, it's rather short and the story didn't add depth to Vergil, quite the opposite. He looked as dumb as in the previous DMC's. To quote one of his lines "I need more power."

   Too bad, but it was still a pleasure to play as him.

    To me, though, he sums up so much of what I love about the Metal Gear series: real world concerns mixed with absolutely batshit crazy ridiculous concepts. The "nanomachines" line was just awesome, because it was like, "Huh, you didn't like when we used them in MGS4? Well, fuck you! Last boss of this game is made of them!"

    I actually think they didn't come up with anything good and did what Hideo Kojima would do. Use the biggest plotdevice in human history.

    Also, the parrying is ridiculously easy if you figure out the exploit. How that made it into the final game, I don't know.

    Well, be sure to enter the Konami code then, when you first get the game, and start Revengeance mode right off the bat. Come back to me afterwards with how easy it is.

    Since that mode pretty much requires you to parry everything thrown at you ever, or die in one hit.

    Wow, that looks and sounds dreadful, even worst than Vanquish. There's no way I'm going to buy this game considering my limited budget. I might try it out if it ever becomes free with plus...

    People still rent games? You have game rental stores? Only place around here that would rent games out was Blockbuster and they haven't been around for ten years.

    There's what I call a "Gamestop rental." Buy a game used and then return it within seven days for a full refund.

    @Clupula, I bought it from Game and they don't offer refunds anymore once the packaging has been opened or their seal is broken. They've (or at least my local store) hasn't done full refunds like that for a long long time.

    @YZ, I haven't played the DLC yet. I drifted off from the end to play a few other things (EVE mainly of late which surprised even me) but I will go back to it and I will definitely buy any DLC for it.

    @Viralshag - for Gamestop in the U.S., it's used games only. New, they will not give you a refund. Used, full refund within seven days.

    If you're interested there's this review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6xFn853Vf0 . (It has a spoiler alert at the beginning, but it doesn't really have anything major).

    I agree with basically everything other than when he talks about the difficulty - I found very hard mode.. well, pretty hard. Especially the last boss, that was insane. And from what I played of Revengeance difficulty... well, damn. The first mission gave me real trouble. You have to be really on top of your Rising game to get those perfect parries every time and deal huge damage.

    I didn't get to play more of Revengeance mode because I accidentally deleted my data. Whoops... :(
