He also said -"it leverages [intellectual property] that you will find in our A-series APUs later this year, our new generation of APUs but NONE that will quite be to that level of sheer number of cores, sheer number of teraflops."
Also of note is that a "cut-down/weaker" version of PS4 APU will be available in the market, as it would since PS4 is incorporating tech from AMDs as yet unreleased APU lineup. It would be without Sony tech obviously.
Very interesting indeed. It indirectly means PS4 will remain the most powerful next-gen console, as MS is also being supplied by AMD.
It may be down to the fact that adding Kinect to the package led to reduction in hardware grunt to keep costs reasonable for 720.
Hopefully Sony has one eye on pricing too, and recent comments from SONY execs point towards an "affordable, yet powerful" console.
