For the hardcore (anyone that tuned in last night) it doesn't matter. For the casual folks (someone clueless walking into a gamestop to "see what's new") you need a visual representation to put specs, screenshots, etc. next to to sell your product. But that'll come later in the year when the new marketing train starts up.

It's way early and the announcement isn't even really complete yet as far as I can tell. It seems to me that the information was more a taster or foreshadow if you will, of the full announcement. Or at least that's the impression I'm getting right now. Sony's just gearing up for E3, maybe trying to get an edge on Microsoft.

Bunch of hypocrites. Nintendo was absolutely slaughtered for not showing a plastic box that no-one really gives a shit about and here you lot are saying well it doesn't matter, it's Sony...

I think you confuse something, eviroboy. Big N didn't show specs. And *that* indeed was meagre.

@Eviroboy, I haven't cared about Nintendo or what they show since I 8.

Nintendo showed off a controller leaving most people confused as to what the Wii U actually was.
Sony crucially revealed hardware specs and whilst I feel they could have done a better job with the reveal, it wasn't as bad the Wii U reveal.

I really want to see it months before the launch, that way I can compare the USB ports to make me more comfortable with it IF I decide to buy one.

Box matters because by the end of the day i'm going to buy it so i as a consumer must see what it looks like.

Yeah, thats whats E3 for, Erthazus...

And suddenly, it looks like sphere.

Be patient you'll see the hardware in time.

You can tell how much it matters, by the volume of fanboys saying it doesn't.
