what thats it G1GA? What if they release MW4? ;)
What are you playing in the meantime? PC, WiiU, Tablet, Vita, 3DS, phone?
Quiting already?
I dont understand, Why are you throwing the towel so early, what happened man?
Wait, what? All of the sudden? What happened?
I need a serious break, after doing it almost daily for so many years.
All my family keep telling me to stop, and that they hate my 360, so I must have been playing a lot more than I realised.
It's strange, because it was only about a month ago when I was sure that I would be gaming well into my 50's and onward, If I was still alive...
Now seems like a good time to stop, which should give me a minimum of 9 months until I might make a comeback.
@OG:
The only thing that I will probably carry on doing is Jetpack Joyride on my iPad.
G1GA good luck man! i understand where you´re coming from and having a break for a longer period is a good thing sometimes. i also had a time when i played almost nothing at all. life can be pretty awesome then as well;)...maybe you´ll be coming back after a while and will just play less though. i think online shooters can really be a bitch. the competitive side of gaming. i do not care about that much anymore (not that i ever was a real hardcore competitive player though). lot more relaxed gaming time these days for me...so seriously man. can be the right decission. you can always come back IF you feel like it.
Best of luck G1GA. Really. A break can be a good thing. Might I offer the same type of advice that Poly was? When you do decide to get into gaming, try different games. Smaller byte sized ones maybe. More relaxed ones. Might be easier to keep in check. O know for me if I start playing a game like Rift or Wow, I can sink countless hours into it. And after awhile I start getting upset at family for interupting me...for things like dinner or conversation. Really not a good place for me.
Best of luck bud on your decision.
I turned 50 last month and have been finding it harder and harder to get in to games for the last year or so.
I still game but seem to jump from game to game more and more.
My suggestion for what it is worth would be to cool it for a while and then come back to it on a more casual basis.
I know you have the PS3 so maybe join plus when you come back and visit some games you would never buy to try.
I am playing games I never would have touched before because there free and finding a few gems in there such as lara croft and silly little minis that are really good fun to just pick up and play.
I mean you can actually become a little obsessed and feel you are missing something by leaving your console off but at the end of the day the games are there forever and a day for you to play when you want and not the other way round.
A bit like going out and socialising really imo.
Your circumstances change for a few years and you are not going out as much so you lose contact with your mates who are still single and it feels a bit funny yet a few years later when you get to do it again on your own terms you realise why you enjoyed it but like the fact that you are not compelled to be there all the time and enjoy catching up on things when you decide to go out.
Strange analysis maybe but gaming is a part of life for some of us and with that can come the pressure internally to not be there for the next thing that is happening yet with a bit of self control you can quickly realise that it does,nt matter a toss if your,e there or not and when you come back you can still enjoy it the same or even more on your terms.
Bit of a bullshit post probably but in there somewhere you might just get what I am trying to convey. :)
I enjoyed the few games we managed to get together through the years and hey I might even chance blops 2 now your,e taking a break lol.
Regards The Reask. :)
Is this because you didn't win the CoD thing? ;o)
Have fun on your break G1GA, no matter how extended it is :)
Games will be there if you want them.
Everyone needs a break. I played WOW for a year and was like that's it, I'm done, and then never went back to seriously play it, i visited a few times but i was pretty much done.
Gaming in general I go in phases, where I game heavy for awhile, stop gaming for awhile, and the go back and play a ton. Im playing alot of skyrim again now.
Console wise, Im really bored now. My PC is miles above the xbox 360 now, and its much more fun to play on the PC with a controller. I used to be a mouse and keyboard guy and now prefer the controller, and most PC games use it now.
I'm guessing it wont be till the next gen hits that I find myself craving console gaming again. I am looking forward to the next Bioshock, Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Elder scrolls online, and whatever comes for the next gen, but most of those games ill play on PC>
Get yourself a nice finger box to tide you over...
Don't rush in and buy a modern one; the new ones out in the last few years are awful replicas of the original Spanish, Catelonian attempts, and to be honest, they never made a good Finger Box in the first place! ;) (joke, some makers knew what they were doing!)
If your lucky enough to pick up a German Fingerbox circa 1940, its likely to have the original brass work which is always better IMO, and much nicer than the new repro's...
Best you can get unless you can pick up the old Japanese ones, as if that's ever going to be possible! :)
Anyway, good luck!
All the best of luck to you G1GA! A break definitely helps to get a clearer and more distant view on your hobbie. The consoles and games are not out of this world and so are you. Make a nice comeback with the 8th gen! ^_^
Sounds like a good idea, if it's been affecting your life so much.
Don't stop completely, unless you think that's the only way to curb it. If you're playing it no more than the average person watches TV, there's little harm to it. That's the whole point of a hobby after all, to pass the time.
All the best GIGA. Hope it goes well.
Thanks for all the well wishes and advice, guys, I really appreciate it.
(not sure about finger boxes, though...)
