Sales numbers say alot more then review scores. Having the right biz model to allow you to make money says a lot too.

Like them or not PT Wii and its games sold extremly well. Obviously Nintendo didn't need your coveted high profile 3rd party line up last gen did they? I tend to think WiiU will be more Gamecube then Wii, sales wise. But then again I think the entire industry will deversify. On the whol eit will grow, but it will likly see that growth across a bevey of different platforms. It may be hard for any hardware manufacter to reach the same lofty number achieved this gen.

So many people think that "winning" is everything. Sometimes you just have to place. Nintendo has been doing that for a long time. And while MS and Sony will catch up to Wii sales at some point. Nintendo has already moved on. Proving that they did just fine last gen. Despite the rage from so called hardcore gamers.

Sad thing is you still think the Wii was actually competing with the PS3/360 when it has been clear from the beginning once the wii specs were unveiled that Nintendo themselves said they are not competing against SONY and Microsoft thats why they didn't go with higher specs.

If you want to talk about catch up then talk about the Wii catching the PS2 which its mostly is comparable to from a gameplay,graphical,and technical machine. And we all know the Wii will never catch the PS2 sales.

Like I said before Nintendo has positioned themselves in a weird/risky spot. You can continue to debate all you want O.G. but after that hilarious ridiculous comment about there not being any hardcore market anymore "period" you've lost all credibility to be taken seriously anymore. I highly suggest you take a long break from posting here or anywhere on the internet anymore about video games and thats including your several alt accounts you hide behind. That or terminate all ties you have with O'Connor asap because its apparent he's causing you mental damage that's making you sound unbelievably retarded.

and before any jumps up and says the Wii was competition then I ask you why didn't Nintendo just released the Wii U 6 years ago instead of doing it now and having the same quality graphic games as the PS3/360. With all the money they made with the Wii they could have afforded to wait one more year and released the Wii U alongside the PS4/720 with comparable specs and their new tablet Asymmetrical bullshit gaming catch phrase.

Why does COD Black ops 2 look the same, Batman AC armored edition look and play the same and if it has more memory and power than the PS3/360 why won't there be a port of Tomb Raider for it?

Will the Wii-Z be on par with the PS4/720 four years from now? ;)

i wont start the "wii should´ve been released in 2006" discussion with you again. wii was a success for nintendo and timed just right. sales prove that. your argument is just trolling shit. simple as that.

i had a meeting today. we talked about corporate design/identity...you kow writing the name of your corporation always in the same style, stuff like that...like you do with SONY...thing is, it´s not your corp man, relax a little.
also you don´t understand that saying: there´s no HC gamer market anymore must not mean that there is no market for hc games. it can also mean the market is more complex, bigger, that it isn´t JUST the typical hc vs casual gamer. learn to read between the lines a little. open up....your world seems to be very black and white so it makes sense in that context...i guess.

The Wii U more than likely will never see the numbers as the Wii, but yet they're the same damn console in essence. The topic of this thread is "Wii U DOA". I didn't come here to bash it but some of you are plain dumb to think the Wii u isn't a catch up console rather than something next gen.

Accept whatever delusion you want but the Wii U has no impulse buy gimmick gameplay like the Wii had. Its highly unlikely it will have the same success as the Wii and when the true next gen comes this year or next when will Nintendo launch their next system to catch up to those. Will you morons actually compare the Wii U to the PS4/720 as a next gen console then?

Nintendo has dug themselves in a hole it seems, but only time will make you see the truth. This is the time for Microsoft and SONY to devour Nintendo with their next consoles. And I don't type "SONY" in CAPS because I think its my company. Thats just you being paranoid and retarded to not see thats how SONY spell their name. I spell hTC the same way they spell it too. The correct spelling for PlayStation is with a capital P and S. Did you notice I always spell it that way too? I type XBOX in caps always too.

There's nothing to accept. The average consumer simply doesnt give a flying fuck about graphics.

If they did, the Xbox and GameCube would have trampled on the PS2, the PS3 would have outsold the Wii, and the Vita would be crippling the 3DS in the sales charts right now.

well O'Connor when the next gen comes don't upgrade. Stay on current hardware or better yet keep playing the Wii U to keep that user base alive because once that first tech demo releases at E3 for PS4/720 thats when everyone else will switch focus off of Nintendo.

It is about more then graphics Tea. And as far as competing goes, that is fanboy stuff. Last generation all three platform/console manufacters were all trying to do the samething. Sell systems, games and make money. I think Nintendo did very well in that regaurd, despite the vile that many readers here have for them.

Infact they sold so well that they outsold Sony and MS. I think both Sony and MS will catch Wii system sales. Nintendo has moved on Tea. That is what the WiiU is. Nintendo stoped producing 1st party Wii games already. I know a lot of fans want to declare that their fav system "won" this or that title. But really there isn't any title to win. It is just biz.

So many people like to talk about generational cycles based on system power or tech specs. Let me turn it around for you. Let me know when the Consoles catch up to PC generational cycles. I am playing my PC games at 1080p+, silky smooth frame rates, and many of my games are maxed out graphicly. Even next gen Sony and MS games won't come close. But it isn't about tech.

Wii was Nintendos last gen system. XB360 was MSs. And PS3 was Sonys.

"Next" gen will include WiiU, Orbis, XBXNXT, or whatever their names turn out to officaly be. That is the way it is. Tech aside, it doesn't change the fact that WiiU is the new generational system by Nintendo. Wii was their last generational system.

As for the hardcore gamer labels, that is right up there with "Chicks love guys with Ninja Skills". Games are games. Period. The rest comes down to nerd rage. I mean is one gamer "cooler" because they play Uncharted or Tomb Raider? LBPK or Mario Kart? ElderScrolls or World of Warcraft? Just toys. Halo or Killzone? Civilization or StarCraft? All, still just digital toys. Forza or GT? CoD or BF? Viva Pinata or Funky Barn?

And the samething applies cross generes. Skyrim ok, but CoD is bad? Who is one person to say that a certian set of games are ok while others are sholveware and shit? If a 9 year old girl wants to play Barbie games...what is wrong with that? Shouldn't she be able to? What makes Angry Birds less important or less of a game then say Gears of War(cause I am pretty sure more people play AB then gears).

The people that set their self value and importance on what games they play(and worse what games they DON'T play), I feel sorry for those people. What a shallow husk. Sure you should play what you enjoy. But let others do the samething.

Heading to a website to be little a system or the people that use it is very shallow. There is no debate. No good side or bad side. It all comes down to what toys do you enjoy playing with?

I am a Hardcore Gamer!!! No, your a joke. A gamer...sure. More important or really any different at all then anyone else? Nope. Just another person playing video games.

That is the way I feel about and look at it. They are just games, they don't mean shit.

You think the casual market is for consoles its not. They went from wii to smart phones/tablets now. The casuals are gone you jack ass. No one plays the Wii anymore get that through your thick skull. Quite a lot would have to happen for that to come about seeing as the Wii U is effectively a horrible flop right now in terms of sales vs the last gen of consoles. Its selling worst than the 360 & PS3 (which were both more expensive) were in the same period of their lives by a massive long shot, and i dont think i even need to mention it compared to the original Wii, though its funny how the PS3 had to apparently live up to the PS2's sales, i guess that will mysteriously change now for the Wii U.

I think Nintendo didnt release the WiiU in 2006 because the market was not ready for HD consoles yet, because HD tv adoption rate was low back then, if one analyzes the adoption rate of both sony and microsoft they go almost hand in hand with the adoption rate of the HD tv sets, since 2010 they did recover market coming close to wii wih 70+ million, but since 2006 trough 2009 the wii almost sold the two other combine, is interesting to point that is 2009-2010 that HD tv adoption rate surpass the 50% of the market,for mutiple reasons like price and high competition for a lot fo brands, so i think this was the reason for nintendo not going HD, and i think they were right, now it is the time for HD console, the market is ready, i think it was hard to ask to gamers to buy a 600$ console while they needed to purchase a tv for almost 1000$, that combine with the prices of the consoles, made people keep playing the old consoles like ps2/xbox, while maybe giving the wii a chance, due to low price point and the not need for an upgrade for the tv.

But again sony and microsoft will like to push another tech like 4k, but i think they learned from this gen and dont go for it, maybe in 3-5 years they can, it is not good for their business to rely on another device to sell your console or tech.

How stupid do you have to be to discount the Wii simply because of the screen resolution? Lol. Pretty stupid is of course the correct answer.

I'm still playing Wii games amongst the other games of THIS GEN, the 7th generation of consoles, while enjoying dabbling in the NEXT GEN of consoles via the WiiU.

Resolution has nothing to do with it.

Also mario galaxy on Wii looked almost as good as Banjo Nuts and bolts, and that says something, of course it is with the composite cables that shows 480p, but thats not HD thats enhance, which might indicates that the job can get done without the need of HD.

Mario Galaxy was very clever with design. Isolated and limited worlds allowed for a lot to be done with limited hardware, it was a good looking game, however B&K was really very impressive. They really weren't comparable ...

There's obviously a word of difference between N&B and Mario Galaxy visually. Both look lovely though, and there are better shots of MG that could have been taken.

Although I really loved N&B, ask most people who have played both and they say they prefer the gameplay of Mario Galaxy. Sub-HD resolution didn't make the game any less fun to play.

Guys well basecally i mentioned that because when i did played both games, by the way i love banjo nuts and bolts, for me is one the best rare games in the microsoft era, well as a matter of fact i think all their games were great, kameo, viva piñata, the only one that it was ok was perfect dar zero, but on topic again, is that when i played both games i said this looked almost as good as banjo nuts and bolts, i know that there is a difference of course, but like doc said due to limeted worlds or areas in galaxy they could exploit some graphics wizardy, and really i love how the colors and the ligthing worked there, and thats what i did like banjo game for the colors and the lighting, therefore thats what i said almost, for me i was really surprise to experience that while playing mario galaxy, and i mean compare it with banjo nuts and bolts, at least to have that feeling, although for some there is a world of difference trhough the scale and scope, and rightly so, i did think how they did do that while playing mario galaxy, to the point of comparing it with the nuts and bolts game.

Sure. You don't need to compare it to anything else though. It stands up by itself as a good looking game - regardless of cunningness in design to achieve this. Good artistic direction can achieve a lot more than a bump in technical prowess.

Would like to see a rework of MG on the WiiU actually. It would benefit from dual sticks for manual camera control and enough buttons to not rely on shitty waggle gestures to do things. Slightly controversial but I thought Mario Galaxy was a game held back by the Wii controller - it certainly wasn't enhanced by it.
