I played this year was?
I know we all have them. That one game that we wouldn't tell our real life friends we play. Maybe it idoesn't have that cool factor, but the it ratches up the fun or just plan hard to put down.
What was yours this year?
Mine was and still is Funky Barn.
The game is one part Viva Pinata, one part RTS, and all goofy(after your cow eats a wild strawberry, pick it up and shake it to get strawberry milk). I am playing it on WiiU and it is great.
You start out by inheriting a broken down farm land. The storke brings you one chicken. You have a small amount of mony to get you started. You have to buy a trough for food and another one for water. You also need to buy a chicken house for your chicken. After a short while your chicken lays an egg. You grab the eggs and toss it in your "selling machine" to get more money. You can then use your funds to build fences, upgrade your troughs, houses, build roads, and even buy an automatic egg collector that walks your roads sucking in eggs and carrying them to the machine seller.
Sounds neat? It is, but of corse it goes way beyond chickens. You also might want to buy a kennel so you have a dog to keep foxes out of the chicken coups. or to keep wolves away from your sheep. Cows are nice, but you better buy an Air Defense system to fight off the UFO Aliens that want to take your cows for experimentations. Don't let your animals eat the wrong colored mushroom or they might explode(the right one could make them produce more goodies). Plant crops and buy harvestors for them. Plant fruit trees. Build weather centers to help snuff out Tornados.
The game is crazy fun.
It uses the second screen brilliantly well. It feels like a RTS in a lot of cases. And you are touching the screen all of the time to do things from picking up animals, collecting products, building fences, roads, building, or just making selections at the store or what animal you want the storke to deliver.
The game prolly looks lame, maybe even sounds it from the name alone. But it is anyhting but lame. It also costs 20usd to 30usd depending on where you get it, that is 1/3rd to 1/2 the average price of a new game.
So yea it is an embarrasing game to mention at the water cooler at work. Even Dr. Damn sent me a MiiVerse message asking: "Funky Barn, Really OG?"
Well, my name is OlderGamer and I play Funky Barn.
What is the most embarrasing game you have played AND enjoyed this past year(if not this year then in recent memory)?
