while plaqying Black Ops 2 on my Wii U it froze too and I had to unplug it to get it working again this happened twice or so and now I seem to have the same problem. The game is still stuck inside the console and won't eject neither will it power on. The light turns blue for a few seconds then just goes back to red. Don't really know what to do anymore...

And that's why IMHO, I don't buy anything on launch day, be it from consoles to cell phones and gadgets. There are always some problems, and always let the other test the products and then decide what to do. Patience is a virtue!
On topic, hope you get everything fixed. :)

@madboy93
Was your WiiU also downloading something from the eShop at the same time?New OS update out today which I hope will resolve this issue. You have to survive a 650Mb download though :)

@madboy
That's harsh dude, I feel your pain! :(
Best thing I can suggest is calling Nintendo's helpline and sending it off as soon as poss (Xmas post problems etc...)
You could take it back to the shop, but you may not get your BLOPs 2 disc back or eshop purchases etc...
The Nintendo service center were friendly and helpful so give them a go. I posted mine back yesterday (just the console), and am hoping to have it back next week all going well.
Mine had Zombie U stuck inside, I put a note on top of the console to tell them this and what eshop games I had downloaded just to be safe!
Also include a photocopy of your receipt if you can, they'll tell you all this over the phone though.
I just hope they install the new patch that's out today on mine before they send it back! Should be silly if they didn't! :)
Anyway, good luck, keep us posted!

I started downloading the newest update last nite, and got kicked(too many people tryign to do the same prolly). So I didn't freat, packed the system, moved it my bedroom, and the wife and I enjoyed some South Park on Netflix(don't ask, I am almost addicted, I can't help it). My point is that after a couple of episodes, she rolled over for sleep and I closed Netflix with the idea of some Funky Barn(Viva Pin'ata meets an RTS Meets ?), awesome fun. And the system pauses and starts installing the patch(not downloading, it had already done that while watching Netflix). I was impressed, I didn't think the system could do that in the background. But it did.
It took a couple mins to finish instaling. It isn't XB360 fast, but it isn't PS3 slow either. Somewhere in the middle. But considering I was doing something while it downloaded, I was happy. What worries me is what if I had powered down my system at the end of Netflix rather then closing the software to the main menu?
If there is a draw back to the system, I think it is Nintendos lack of experience in the online sector of consoles/gaming. They are trying, but stumbling right now, trying to find their way. Reminds me of Sony at the start of this gen. Online services/software has always been a strong point of MS and they worked it nicly into the XBox systems. Both Sony and Nintendo are JPN companies that have had to play catch up. I would give Nintendo a B+ in what they offer, but a C- in how they run it right now(online speaking). Where as MiiVerse is fantastic, updating has been downright painful.
Given time it should get better, Sony has.

@OG
"What worries me is what if I had powered down my system at the end of Netflix rather then closing the software to the main menu?"As long as you did it via the power button on the machine or pad you would have been fine. If you'd just turned it off at the plug without turning it off to standby mode then you might have had an issue.

@OG, yeah. That's something they need to work on. My background-loading story is from the 360, where I downloaded an entire GoD release while playing a big 3D game. That floored me. When I launched the game, it popped up a message saying that it had stopped the download, which I expected. What I didn't expect is for the download to resume silently after the system did whatever it wanted to do online related to me launching the game. Then sometime later during my play session, it popped up another message saying the multi-GB download had completed. Yesterday, I clicked on a tile related to Far Cry 3, and was instantly treated to a long HD video about the game--15 minutes, at least. Seamless, and immediate.
This is the kind competition Nintendo has to face in the connected gaming world. This is what people are going to be increasingly expecting. They need to iron out the kinks and get up to speed. It will be crucial to their future in this market.

Maybe the technicians can't remove my Zombie U disk till AFTER 11pm due to parental control measures?
I have no room for ANOTHER peach sex puppet Poly! :)

Well, it's not just consoles, it's a Nintendo console. When it comes to technology it's not really a good thing to buy something at launch from them.
Anyway, goodluck to monkey. I hope you can resolve that issue, if this was my case I would go apeshit and Microwave my WiiU: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvEkA-x3hVk

@monkeygourmet
I am also waiting for them to let me know they received it which should happen by monday. I read about another case with the same problem where the console was returned in working condition in less than 2 weeks which would be sweet and I only hope for the best and though I was angry at first, I can't stay mad at the company that gave me a great time through video games since the first years of my life when my brother put a controller in my hand and made me play Donkey Kong Country on the Super Nintendo. Anyway I'll also keep you posted. Good Luck.

Here's my ten cents worth. Downloaded both Wii u updates , system froze playing Assassins Creed 3 and console starting screeching . Wouldn't power off , felt safe unplugging console as nothing being downloaded or installed. Unit would'nt start up. Rang Ninty repair line and told to return console AND power unit as there might be a fault in the power unit 'not resetting' That was 8 days ago. Just checked my repair status and it says , and I quote " Fault diagnosed. Job Held - system bricked". Not optimistic I will be Ninty gaming this side of Xmas.

@Erth: Really? I was under the impression that Ninty hardware was among the most reliable in the industry. I've had every Ninty console up to and including Wii, and I've never had any kind of problem. Never heard of others having one either...

Not making lite of anyones situation, but I am in same boat as TG. Other then spring loader in my NES, I have never had a Nintendo system problem either. All of my Nintendo systems work(I also own a toploader nes now).
I hope you guys get your systems replaced soon. Sounds like Nintendo is lest trying to take care of you guys.

Any news on the return of peoples consoles yet?
Posted 5 months ago # -
Right minor update!
Mine went like this on their update page:
Fault diagnosed
Repair started
Job Held ???!!!Then finally today:
Repair completed!!!! :)
Looks like I'm just waiting for package to be returned (3-7 working days so hopefully Weds/Thurs next week!)
Then just interested to see if they fucked up my eshop stuff.
Overall, so far, I think it's been pretty crappy service.
The info page has a lot of information, but no key as to what things mean...
Job Held?! What the fuck is that supposed to mean, it made me think my device was being quarantined!!! :)
Hopefully will be back on the Miiverse ASAP!

Looking forward to seeing you back online MonkeyG!! Let me know if ya wanna play something. Tbh, I think Nintendo did a decent job. You are getting hardware back, fixed reasonably timely. I know easy to say when I am not the guy that has to wait. But still. It took MS about four weeks to turn my RRoD system back around.
Anyways glad it is almost over for you.

It isn't bad OG, I just have a bad feeling about my Estore stuff.
Until I have the machine back I won't know for sure, I just have a feeling some rube in the hardware repair section will have not logged my downloads! :)
Maybe paranoid although shits happened to me before, it's why I dislike Digital content!
Well, hopefully we won't have to wait much longer!
Have a hankering to draw some Penis's and nude Peach drawings on Miiverse! ;)
Posted 5 months ago # -
almost back then. good stuff! i would be sceptical about my digital purchases too, but it will pobably be all just fine.
