Well, it was fun while it lasted, but my Wii U seems to have 'bricked'.

I have Nintendo Land and Zombie U and have downloaded Trine 2, a shoot em up, and an Indy type game.

I had updated the OS properly when I first booted up the console.

I was downloading Sonic Racing (full game from Euro E store) at the same time as playing Zombie U.

I made a Miiverse post about 30 mins ago, the Wii U crashed and now it won't power back on...

Well, all in all, I'm pissed off. The Console turns on, then immediately powers off. A few people have referenced this on YouTube.

Anyway, just be careful of the downloads on this system.

Now I'll have to call Nintendo, I don't even know if I'll get my purchased games back? I better do or I'll be very angry given that the console is 2 days old...

Poor show! :(

The games should be tied to an account, right? In the end, you'll be fine, it's the annoying wait in between that's the worst part.

Well, I hope so... Nintendo are a bit shit with E stuff though. Also, will I lose all my Miiverse posts? (It was mainly pictures of penises, but still...), also, all my fucking Zombie U progress...

Am annoyed, especially as it seems common at the mo. can I take the console back to Blockbuster? I only bought it 2 days ago...

Agree with CJ. But that absolutly sucks MonkeyG. My system has been scaring the stuffing out of me and my wife, it keeps locking up on us. It has locked on ZombiU and Madden(several times). And we have had a strange freezing problem where the video locks, but the sounds continue and the system can reboot but the video stays static and needs a power plug pulled.

It should be noted that today was the FIRST time we have had any trouble. We were wondering if the system has had a patch/update and something went wrong? We also downloaded Uplay(from UbiSoft) today.

I hope it works out for you man. And I hope there isn't a massive ice burg lurking just under the water out of sight waiting to sink us all.

ohhh shit! sorry man...this sucks so bad. games will be connected to your nintendo id...save games probably wont. this is bad, i'd be pissed as well. i thought mine crashed too once. the internet browser freezed in, but was fine after i did shut down the console. you'll get a new one from nintendo or the shop you bought it from - but it is what it is: a pain in the ass. i enjoy the wii u too. really do. miiverse is genius. nsmb u coop is the most coop fun i had in ages. watching movies on the tablet is great, like the browser too. write this from the wiiu pad atm. great console overall...hurry up and get a replacement console, will miss your miiverse posting! heads up, you will be fine. play some far cry 3 or something and try not to think about all this until the new console arrives. maybe nintendo admins bricked your console because of all the cocks you try to post XD

Take it back to Blockbuster or phone Nintendo?

I have about £80 of downloadable content on the machine already (Sonic Racing was half way completed download @ £40 but had already charged my account).

Will I keep my Miiverse posts?

Re my saved games fucked?!

So sad as its my favourite console in a while... O__o

Phone Nintendo first. Then I would think about returning it. Give Nintendo a chance to make it right. It is like MS, while I think RROD was dumb, the fact that they replaced it and kept me gaming kept me gaming on their hardware. I don't judge a company for a problem, but instead I judge them on what they do about it.

Good luck man. And I hear you, the WiiU is just plan fun to play, best system scince Dreamcast(IMO). Just seems like Nintendo has some bumps to smooth out. Keep us posted on what happens.

Not sure if WiiU does something similar but PS3s could be reset by holding the On button down for 10 seconds or so. Worth checking the manual anyway. Tough luck though. :(

Mine has already locked up twice already.

Its really fucking weird that holding in the power button does not force a reset, or even turn it off. Its terrifying having pull the power cord out the back of the machine.

I guess I'm the Guinea pig in this scenario. Hopefully the follow up service isn't as bad as the one I had from Sony!

Main thing is getting back the downloads, losing the save games will still be a bitch...

So just to confirm MG, essentially you had a system crash whilst downloading something substantial and the only option you had was to unplug the WiiU - thus bricking it as it doesn't like being unplugged mid-download of any type?

I did a few searches and one response was that their machine froze and the only way to get it to respond was to remove the ethernet cable. Given the Wii-U is wifi only I assume they removed the ethernet cable from the router - this may have closed down the download process successfully. Not much use to you MG but in the future (until they patch this) then that's something worth trying.

Never had it happen with a Nintendo machine though! :) I think even the extra RAM didn't help it when I was multi-tasking like a mofo! :)

Not quite, Sonic Adventure Racing was downloading in the background while I was playing Zombie U, I pressed the home button to send a message and the whole thing crashed.

The only thing I could do was turn it off at the mains as it was stuck on the Miiverse message stage.

Wether it was because Sonic was downloading in the background im not sure? Maybe I was multi tasking too much! ;)

***Update***

Phoned Nintendo this morning,

were very helpful and have agreed to fix the console ASAP.

I'm going to post it off tommorow hopefully and they agreed to give me back Zombie U (it is still stuck inside!!!), and my E Shop purchases plus as much data as they can recover (Mii's etc...)

Providing it all goes to plan, I should have it back in a week! :)

Shitty situation, good service though, very helpful.

They even played Zelda music while I was on hold to soothe the beast within! ;)

Ok yeah that's kind of what I meant. I.e. the whole thing crashed for an unknown reason and at that point you were downloading something. I think the root cause of the actual bricking is cutting power whilst downloading something - it's just the crash gave you no choice.

The system probably just needs reset-ing in some way and it'll be fine.

Good show MonkeyG. Like I said, shit happens. I try and not judge a company on a problem, but rather on how they solve it. If Nintendo is going to fix it and make it right...then that makes me feel better.

BTW, did anyone put down my zombie in ZombiU yet? I was over run just after getting the keycard(yes, I suck). What I am wondering is if one of my friends kills my walking corpse, is it still there for me to get my backpack later when I log back on?

I haven't been this bad at a game in a long time. Just so hard, but I keep coming back.
