...i am back playing reach again. i wish there would be more maps comig for reach and not halo 4.
halo 4 is good and all...technically it is a great game but the flow of the game is extremeley different. it is my least fave halo game, i am sure i can say that now. it still is a great game, definiteley among the very best games this gen had to offer, but still i´m sceptical about the future of halo. the bungie games feel different. the mp of halo 4 is fun but i can´t get into the flow of the game. halo 4 has a different groove and flow to me. it´s a cod/ halo mix and to me it just doesn´t feel right. it´s hard to describe, but i don´t get the game..i tried and tried to fall in love with it, but nope. not really. will definiteley keep playing it from time to time but it´s not the überhalo i was waiting for and the changes in the competitive mp are really not for me. not at all. i´d love to hear what some old time halo fans think about that. many new halo players or some that only casually played halo seem to really enjoy halo 4. i for one am a bit disappointed with it.
i am hoping that some of that old school halo gameplay feeling will be in bungies next game.
atm i cannot help but feeling like an old friend has changed so much that i am not sure if we will hang around together as often as we used to have and that´s kinda sad.
HALO 4 (kinda makes me sad)

You should both get a PS3 & play some Killzone...
Then realise how lucky you are!

@zinc:
:D
@LuLshuck:
i will continue playing it for a while. i haven´t given up completeley, but i really wait for the moment when it will click. i am SR40something now, so i doubt this moment will come. it still is an enjoyable game but if i compare it to the older halo games....there´s really something lacking...they added tons of stuff but they haven´t really captured the soul of halo imho.
it could have been much worse though, they didn´t reinvent it thankfully, but the new halo is going a path i am not so sure if i really want to follow. halo is my favourite mp game and one of my favourite franchises in genreal. if i was on a desert island, could only pick one game, it would be a halo game for sure (but not halo 4;). in my opinion it is the best competitive mp experience you can get on a console (before someone complains: this is for me and my taste, i am not saying that it must be the best for everyone). campaigns have been awesome too, with great ai. superfun to replay campaigns multiple times. that said, i am starting to feel like the game isn´t really for me anymore and this obviously makes me kind of sad. i am hoping for bungies next game. everything we know this far about that "destiny" thing does sound fantastic.
this is going to be multiplat. sony fans should be more than happy about this!Posted 5 months ago # -
swat is still fun....i really hope they will bring classic mode like anniversary in reach to halo 4. THAT would be great. less is more sometimes.

Feel absolutely the same as Poly. I love all things Halo, though after playing and attempting to embrace 4, I'm back to playing custom firefights (LAN) with my wife :-). The game is fine - it ticks the right boxes. Problem is that the Bungie vibe and magic are clearly missing. Not a big fan of the art direction (aside from foxy Cortana), also not big on SPOPS - endless lives and cheesy dialogue. I'm doing well in MP; just not feeling motivated to go on. :-(
Come E3, here's hoping Bungie can bottle lightning twice...

@fengato: i 100% sign that...
halo 4 is great and fun. you got to give credits to 343, they didn´t mess it up. technically it is a masterpiece too -but the bungie vibe is missing. that had to be expected actually.
bungie will show their new game at E3. i did read some very minimal hands on impression somewhere. it said it feels like an open world halo game where you and your faction/squad can go everywhere, help out or destroy other teams and all that in a beautiful, believeable scifi world...if someone can create an awesome scifi fpsmmo on consoles then it´s bungie.
i am pretty conservative with my mp games. i mainly play halo online because for my taste it is the best there is, so why bother with the other shooters. i still play them, but halo is my main online game.
that said, the idea of bungie creating an fpsmmo with competitive and coop elements is like a dream come true. hell, i would buy a bungie console for 500+ dollars if i had to just to play that one game on it and it would probably pay off for me.Posted 5 months ago # -
I couldn't disagree more. I liked the first Halo and then i never really liked any Halo again until Halo 4. They felt boring to me and i really disliked the environments too. The previous Halo's were too slow for my liking, i like it being a bit more fast paced. But in no way does it feel like CoD to me, and boy am i glad about that. Tired of the lightning fast gameplay of CoD. And Polygem, i'm sorry but i don't think Bungie is that good at all with creating amazing sci-fi worlds....for me that credit goes to 343 bigtime, the worlds in Halo 4 are incredible and later on when you get those real sci-fi locations...oh my god, that art style, everything just looks brilliant. These guys knew what they were doing. Never ever been big on Bungie.
343 did something Bungie simply wasn't able to. Make the game look insane, make the guns sound and FEEL like guns and simply offer a so much better experience. Might sound harsh, but i am glad Bungie is gone and that 343 is in. Very impressed with what this studio delivered.

Yeah i watching you playing reach again this past weekend, and i did find it really odd/strange, because a week earlier you were playing halo 4, i knew something wasnt of your liking, i will wait for my copy in order to see if your opinions reflect mine too, i did like reach, is just the gotham city impostors is tha BOOM.

@Manu: LOL...yea now i play reach and halo 4 but going more and more back to reach...even ordered blops 2, 5 min ago just because i am really disappointed with halo 4 and want a new mp game that gets me hooked. really liked the first blops, one of my fave cod´s and i played that online for quite some time. i tried the gotham demo a while back and thought it was quite fun actually, maybe i should look into buying that one too. still having a backlog though.
halo 4 is a great game, you will probably enjoy it a lot.@Moonwalker: hehe, yes i indeed have to disagree. halo 4 is a fantastic game. we agree about that, but the artdesign, the feeling of the weapons, the prometheans as enemies, the dark enviroments of the forgetable campaign and the customizable mp loadouts, the matchmaking menues and many many other things just feel strange to me. not like halo.
i LOVED every halo game, this is the first one i only like. it is fun but i just cannot fall in love with it and man i tried and still try. the new, darker direction is not really for me. halo is about purple spaceships! that´s a good thing! even the needler is not really pink anymore ;( why not, what´s wrong with a pink needler? this is a videogame, pink weapons and purple spaceships are nothing to be ashamed of.
i totally disagree with you about bungie not being great in creating scifi worlds or great weapondesign. imho they are the best in that department and BY FAR. the halo gameplay is as smooth as it can get. the worlds of ce, 2,3 and reach are just great. halo 4, while looking superb with some really nice locations and architecture/structures is not on the same level of artdesign imho.
the guns in halo always felt right. in 4 it is the first time i truly find them feeling strange.
the more i play 4 the more i find stuff i don´t like...unfortunateley. like i said in the headline, strangeley this really makes me kind of sad. truly. emotionally. i love halo, the colourful halo.Posted 5 months ago # -
You're talking multiplayer, right? I never go near that so can't comment, but for me Halo 4's campaign is the bet in the series yet - even better than Combat Evolved and Reach.
Posted 5 months ago # -
i am mainly talking mp but the campaign, while great, still got me disappointed. it´s the sound and feel of halo 4 in general...it just feels odd to me.
i respect your opinion about this but for me it is totally opposite. it is my least liked halo game.Posted 5 months ago # -
It's not weird, i mean..you love the things about the previous Halo games that i actually really disliked alot. It sucks that you keep being disappointed by it, but 343 isn't going anywhere. Maybe if they get enough complaints from the hardcore fans they will bring some changes in Halo 4, but personally...i'm good.

343 did a great job. game screams quality. you got to give them credit, they just didn´t hit the nail exactly for me and my taste. there will always be people that are a bit disappointed in a game. this time i am one of them. just never happened to me before with a halo game. many didn´t like reach and to me it was/is the greatest halo game since ce. loved everything about it, from menues to gameplay. they changed a lot with this game with AA´s. i liked that a lot, so it´s not that i am against changing a formula in general. only thing shit about it is armor lock, other than that 11/10. i still think this is and will be my game of this gen. lots of people hated reach deeply, even a lot of hc halo fans. in the end it´s all about personal taste. i just miss that bungie vibe in halo 4. good thing is: there will be another bungie game quite soon. i try not to get too hyped about it already. it´s easy to get disappointed if your expectations are high. i had huge expectations for halo 4, i mean HUGE, thats something i must admit.
there seem to be some who do not like the majority of changes they made in 4...but most people, even many hc fans, seem to like it. in that regard i think 343 did pretty well too. maybe halo really desperateley needed some new cosmetics. for me it was fine but i can see that others wanted that. 343 delivered there big time. it´s not that 343 fucked up halo, they stayed true to it, many even complained that there aren´t enough changes (which imho is an insane opinion: relax guys, slowly, this is halo! it should stay halo!). will definiteley buy their next halo game anyway ;)
maybe 343 will come up with a classic playlist for mp, i would totally love that. no loadouts, or only minimum preset loadouts. a powefull magnum an ar, some powerweapons on the map, 4vs4...halo.
there is slayer pro which is going in that direction already, somehow.Posted 5 months ago #
