I don't know, I don't think it is going to be as bad as all of that.
I already use strong digital services now. Steam, XBL, PSN, and eShop. Not to mention iTunes. My concern is that if a companie goes under, I lose my purchases. I never bought into OnLive for that reason.
I think the biz model for the future will have us looking at services where we play certian games for a monthly fee. Like Cable TV works. So long as you pay, to get acsess. Ofc other problems pop up, right now I can watch Walking Dead. But if AMC pulls it from the air tomorrow, I can still buy a physical copy to enjoy. If Acti has a service in ten years and pulls CoD from their cloud of streamable games, can you still buy the game elsewhere to play or do you have to just use whatever games Acti wants on its service at the time?
Lots of questions, concerns, and things to think about. But I doubt it will be that bad, and we will prolly wake up one day and see that the future is already upon us and we didn't even notice when exactly it happened.
