I was just pondering the idea of buying a Vita and I came up with the decision to wait for a price cut or a hardware revision.Here is my wishlist for changes to hardware.
1-better cameras: they are really poor,low to the point that makes them stupid(IMO). I would have loved front camera at 720p video and rear camera with the same res or better.
2-Cheap storage: 5th gen iPod touch comes with 32Gb of storage at 299$. Vita comes withpoor cameras(5MP with LED flash on iPod for rear camera,front is 720p) and No storage! course it won't sell ! It needs at least 8 Gb in 249$ model.
3- Better Accesories and more colors: It might sound silly but better accesories can help like what Smart Cover did with iPad and Type/Touch cover is doing with surface.People would also like more colors,look at S3 from samsung(Ocean blue,white,brown,red,black,grey)

Storage price is a big thing. Doesn't need a revision change, they just need to stop charging so damn much for them.

Cameras whilst crap I don't think are a big priority. They do a job, they aren't really needed for anything which requires greatness.

Don't think they really need to revise the hardware, just sell it, and the cards, at a lower price.

Wait for it, it seems theres a price cut around the corner, also i will like to add, reduce in price of the memory cards, and more games like dokuro, escape plan, sounds shape,gravity rush, than the console iteration of games on the vita.

By the way if you end up buying it, i really recomend dokuro.

I don't think they will add any unnecessary frills to vita anytime soon, so better cameras are a no-no.

A price cut isn't happening this year. I also suggest using us psn just in case because eu psn has gone to the shitters in the last few weeks. No replies from them and they are not honoring the promise of digital being 10% cheaper than retail prices with new games, which plain sucks.
And I take it that Dokuro is good right? Although I may well never play it just because I was stupid in becoming a eu psn customer.

It is easy, lower the price dramaticly. Of both teh system and the storage. And it isn't enough to just get it close to 3DS, they need to be lower then 3DS. And I mean system to system, bundling games isn't the samething.

They aren't getting beat because their hardware is inferior, they are getting beat because people don't see value in it. I think they have already lost the battle. Mostly because getting 3rd party support will be very tough, most of it will go to 3DS.

The current Sony reminds me a lot of Sega toweards the end. They had better hardware, and much better games. Didn't matter because people bought something else.

@OG - good points, but I'll eat a truck load of hats if the price ever drops below that of the 3DS. And it shouldn't. The Vita is a far superior piece of hardware.
I know Sony are in a bad place with the Vita right now, and it's a vicious cycle that with such a low userbase, devs aren't going to make games for it, and it's in danger of becoming obsolete. Price is definitely a key factor, but there are other things Sony could be doing (ie, GAMES!).

Games like Tokyo Jungle would be great on Vita. Double Dragon Neon and the like too. I don't know if they can, but throwing the devs a wad of cash to port such titles to the Vita would be first on my list of things to do. I hear it's a pretty easy platform to develop for, so it seems like a win win.

@Manu - Dokuro looks interesting! Have only just heard of it after reading your post ; p which store can I get it from mate?

Deacon USA for now ,i think, it will came to Europe store too in a short time if i dont recall wrong.

Dragon/ Deacon i did put my impresions on the game on a vita thread, dont remember which one, but here it goes again, it is a great game is a mixture of ico with a puzzler game, but the puzzles most of the time require platform actions, is a puzzler platformer if you will, the ico resemblance is because you will escort a princess from point A to Point B , which ends with here touching/smelling a tiny flower on the floor, then it recorded your time and you go for the next stage, speaking of which it is form into chapters that consists of 10 stages per chapter, at the end of the chapter there is a boss fight also involves platforms, actions and puzzle, the escort missions are not fustrating, hence the ico comparision, although due the very nature of the game being platform, you will die or the princess will die, but is not due the bad gameplay is becuase you fail, but you learn and then you will clear the stage, on most stages you can run in once try only, but like i said you will find it is not fustrating, at least in my case.

The graphics are cool with a nice style if i have to compare it looks like the tim burton movies jack nightmare before christmas but in 2D, but is a mix of cartton style with that style pretty good, i dig it.

It was only ever Sony published games and any other publishers which wanted to follow suit, and then it was 10% cheaper than RRP, not 10% cheaper than retail. What has broken this?

Still trying to figure out how to set up different regional accounts on my Vita.... probably easier to do it from the PS3.

And to address the OP :

Cameras are fine. I mean, I doubt anyone's going to be using their Vita as an out-and-about camera. I haven't used it once tbh, and I don't think it needs to be any better than it is. It's a preference thing I guess, but to most I think it's fine as is.

Cheaper storage. Yeah, you would kinda of expect it to come with 10Gb of internal memory or something like that. For the price I mean.

Accessories?? really? I'm a sucker for a coloured controller / console, and I think these things will come in time, as they usually do. I just bought the official Sony Crystal hard case, which I'm very pleased with >_<

Vita really makes multiple accounts difficult. I believe you need a card per account and to reset the machine when swapping between them. Not really worth it.

It seems that no one is excited by better cameras.However the reason I mentioned that was half because of half my personal liking and then iDevices and other stuff out there.I think that something like new iPod touch(although it has a weaker processor) can be a great threat to sales of Vita.Thanks higher res display and a fully featured OS with a ton of apps.

You guys are right,it is value that is causing Vita to fail.But pricing it lower than 3DS? I doubt that.

Actually Belmont, you're kinda right on the camera. For the money you're paying, you would expect something a little better than VGA.

I don't think people would find it a deal-breaker though, imo.
