Any recomendations? Best performance vs cost? I have owned the system scince launch ad because I have gamed mostly on XBLive, I don't own a headset. I am getting my kids a slew of PS3 games for xmass, and I could use some advice. Any old blutooth one works or what?

Any bluetooth headset should work. The official one is supposed to be good. I have a Sony Ericcson one, which is also good (people can hear me clearly and I can hear them clearly), but it does get uncomfortable quickly.
Link to the one I have:

Sorry for coming in on this topic with a different question but I dont want my daughter to see it.
If I get her a live subscription for a year will it work on another console in the house?
She has asked for a subscription as 1 of her presents but I am thinking about getting her the 360 for her room as her mates are getting 360s for xmas.
I know I will have to get the wireless adapter as wsll.So to be basic about it if we both have gold can we have it on both consoles for the one payment each?
Sorry OG for butting in to your thread I hope you will forgive me.
I have to get a headset for PS3 myself so the link is good.Posted 3 years ago # -
You can have one gold for 2 different consoles as long as both consoles use the same Live account.
Which means you cant play online with both consoles at the same time (well atleast not on the same account at the same time).

All good reask. I can tell you that we have two xb360s, and have at one time also had 2 LIVE accounts. The short answer to your question is Yes. However it is a mess. If you DL content on one system with one Live account it is tied into not only that Live account, but also that system it was dl'd on. It is not going to be a problem for most people. Probably. But when my kids wanted to take their system to my moms house we had a mess. Why? Because she doesn't have any internet. And because the xbox wanted to verify that said dlc was being used by said Live account on said system. It normaly does this at home too, but being always connected to the net, its not a problem there. The kids had arcade games that they could not use(we bought the whole game, but it reverted back to the trial modes). They had Halo Map packs that they could NOT use. Like I said it is a mess. It all has to do with MS DRM bs.
You can put multipale gold Live accounts on one system. Just watch out for what Live account you are buying dlc with and on what system. Otherwise if you buy dlc on your daughters system, but used your account, you will have to transfer the liscince for said dlc to your own system in order to use it. This happens automaticly if your connected to the internet. See above. if your not connected you can't use it. Make sense, sort of. Once you do transfer the liscince for said dlc, your daughter can no longer use it on her system. Unless, of course you long back onto her system, connect to the net, and it verifies that your account is now on that system and gives you the liscince. Pain in the butt. Also, lol, to transfer a LIVe account from one system to another takes a LONG time. I have had it take 20 mins before. I have a 6 yr Live account, and there are a lot of liscinces to transfer.
This gets a tad easier with a memory card. Kind of. You can place your gold Live account/profile on the card and slap the card into any system you like. This is great for jumping into someone elses game, and earning achievments and such. But, of course, being a small card your not going to be able to store much dlc and are very limited that way.
In the end I hate the way MS does this stuff. DRMs stink anyways. Nintendo is so bad with their DLC, if your stsem breaks, you have to send it to them to not only fix, but to have them manualy transfer your dlc/vc games etc to a new system should they need to replace old hardware with new(we found that out the hard way and lost several hundred usd on a broken system we discarded in favor of a new system). I have no idea how PS3 works, other then to say we replaced one system already, and all i had to do was log in and redownload stuff, it automaticly showed up as mine, but we redl'd it. No clue how multi profiles on multi systems work. We only have one PS3 for now. I think Tea has multi systems he might know.
My advice, keep your xbox360s and their respective LIVE accounts seperate identities and you should be fine. That sucks when I buy a game in my living room and want to later use that game in my bedroom, or the kids do. You then have to just move the system itself(easiest way). And if the house we take our system to has no broadband(like my folks) we lose a ton of dlc options.
Hope that helps, I prolly gave too much info lol, but thats me. Mr Wall of Text himself.Posted 3 years ago # -

Thanks guys.
Wow that sure is messy alright OG.Posted 3 years ago # -
look no further than the official bluetooth headset. The quality is super good in regular mode, but in high quality mode it sounds like NASA made the damn thing. You can get it free with two games, Socom and Tom Clancy's End War. Even if you don't want those games paying for the headset alone (which is $50 by itself) is like getting a free game then. You can sync it up with your cell phone as well.

^ Thats handy Tea.

Ok, dumb question here - will that headset for PS3 you mentioned TEA work with bluetooth on my PC too then? And does it give you a headache. Just trying not to spend money on two different headsets and tired of ones with headbands contributing to the migraines.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Apparently it will work on nearly every bluetooth device, PC and phones included.
From what i've heard the offcial PS3 one is probably the best bluetooth headset you can buy (i'm guessing in that price range?).Though i prefer stereo headsets for PC myself.

Go with the official headset OG. I tried a few diff, cheap ones which weren't great so ended up buying this one:
All good imo...

See I knew I wasn't alone. Steph needs one too. Sony should pack these things in the with the systems when they sell em. Or make em free when you buy a year of PSN....oh wait, thats right, never mind. But still would be nice if we could get one somewhere, easy and CHEAP.
We must have 5 of the xb360 headsets laying around. I mean all but one are broken, darn kids. But we have em!
I am going to look into the official one. In all honesty thnx for the advice.Posted 3 years ago # -
I DESPISE the one that came with my 360. Worthless really. I need one for it too. Damn it. Wireless preferably.
Nothing like having to take the whole controller with you onto the deck for a smoke while still trying to chat with your pals and the signal cuts in and out when there is nothing but a door and a run-on sentence separating you from the console.
/takes a breath

to be honest Stephany I haven't tried it with my PC. I'll try it with skype and get back to you asap, when wearing it for long periods of time it can get irritating. Also depending on the shape of your inner ear will you have a good fit. The rubber ring part on the piece that goes in your ear sometimes slips off if sweat gets on it.
Another rubber ring comes packaged in to fit smaller ears. If you don't want to use it in your ear while video chatting or playing online then you can use the base as a placement and communicate like that. You still come in clear even across the room. You can of course set your stereo system as your output device to hear your friends or team mates.

Thanks TEA. I have small ears so the extra rubber ring (snicker) would come in handy (snicker). Also, I never have put my pals on "speaker" because I don't think the man of the house would appreciate some of the juvenile conversations and vulgar banter back and forth. He's missing out :-D

For the PS3 without a doubt go for the official one. It's leaps and bounds ahead of every other BT headset I've tried on the machine and the speaker-while-charging mode has come in extremely handy more than once.
Stephany - AFAIK you can use the PS3 headset on PC as long as you've got a bluetooth dongle. but you may have problems seperating voice from game sounds. Ie. either all the sound will come through the earpiece or it may all come through the speakers. Neither of which is any use imo.
Not being much of a PC gamer anymore I'm not sure what the solution would be but my understanding is that it depends on what OS you're using.

This thread ( http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17954538 ) seems to the the best source of info about the subject out there. Most threads I could find via Google just rot the brain within seconds of clicking the link.

Related to this... anyone know how I can turn down the sensitivity on the official headset? It seems to pick up every single noise from around my room rather than just my voice, especially the sounds of the TV etc.
Posted 3 years ago # -
you have to set it in high quality mode Pyscho by holding down the power button when you first turn it on. wait for the second red flash then its in high quality mode. Then only your voice will be heard.
Posted 3 years ago # -
It's in high quality mode, which does indeed improve quality going both ways... but hasn't made any difference to the fact it seems to pick up everything.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Does exactly the same for me PT, it's v annoying.
Turn yr head, breathe, anything and it bloody well registers...silly business!

Just wanted to throw my weight behind the official headset. I bought it last year and have had no problems with it. It does get uncomfortable after a couple of hours of playing (2+ hours) but tbh i don't know a headset that doesn't (that i've tried). Also for £18 it's damn cheap for the quality ur getting.
As for the sensitivity settings, stupid suggestion but have u checked accessory setting or sound settings on PS3? I have to say, i've not experienced mine being overly sensitive so i haven't really had to tinker with mine at all.

I have been using this rather cheap noise hush n780 between my pc and ps3 for quite some time....i deffinately reccomend it.

Go first party. I use my Bluetooth that came with Warhawk for my ps3 and cell phone. The dual mic is very clear and the PS logo helps me nerd out in public :P

psycho go into your accessories settings to adjust sensitivity.

My experience showed the official Sony blu-tooth to be kind of crappy. LOT of breakup noise, very often repeating myself, very annoying.
My expereince with the official Sony WIRELESS HEADPHONES are the exact opposite. BEST sound quality i've ever heard with regards to audio AND communication. No repeated words at all. Plus you have total control over all audio levels.
Now I just bought a Motorolla blu-tooth for my phone and that thing works very well on my PS3.
Just my two cents. :) I wouldn't go with the Sony blu-tooth OG unless you get the full on headphones model.

rise from your grave!
I've just purchased this, which may make me somewhat biased, but imo THIS is the only PS3 headset to own -

At less than £65 it's a fucking bargain.
