Find a guy or a shop that builds laptops, tell them what you want, they'll set you up.
Maybe try here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/build-your-own-laptop/
Sorry I can't be more helpful. I used to know a fair deal about computers. Now, not so much.

Got a HP Pavilion G6 2006-AX for around $450AUD. It has an AMD A6-4400M CPU which is probably as good as an early Intel Core i3 so it's nothing special but isn't a huge bottleneck, also has 4GB of RAM- you would't want anything less, a 500GB HDD, again nothing special but enough to store a several hundred games average sized games. Now the only thing I truly cared about when I was browsing myself was the GPU- it has an AMD Radeon 7670m graphics processor& it's more than capable of running games like Skyrim, BF3, etc on medium. Use this website as a guide to match your needs http://www.notebookcheck.net/ just enter the GPU that you're curious of.

The inferno is a beast of a laptop which is under £500: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/inferno/
If you have a copy of Windows, you can take it off, and maybe bump up the CPU spec.
Some tips on gaming on low end machines: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Low_End_Gaming
Although this laptop has a 650M which is relatively high spec in the laptop world.

Anything by Clevo or their affiliates (like Sager) are great but only really start becoming awesome when you're willing to spend £800+
