Are you playing it?
It seems to be the biggest indie game since World of Goo and Plants vs Zombies. Almost 20k concurrent users on Steam.
It looks terrible, and it's not a big game by any standard, but I think they've done a great job of referencing some of the best strategy design from the 90's.
You take a select few systems, and then you just incorporate them with eachother seamlessly, leaving the player to manage everything.
I'd recommend it to just about anyone, and I feel kinda bad for ignoring it when it was a Kickstarter.
Then again, I did fund Star Command, and that seems to be a very similar concept. Can't wait!
