   OK now, I know we're all tired of seeing them in every news and every forum post. They are an irretating plague that are tempering with my sanity. They're coming and dropping total irrelevance and that is bothering me. In fac it bothers me that much that I'm here to offer my completely free of charge services in return for a limited access to moderation tools in order to delete these posts and perma-ban those bots, and be rid of all that Nuisance.

   I've been a forum moderator at http://www.bazicenter.com for ages, and I'm known to be a merciless bastard who destroys trolls and bots and advertisers. I leave the troll business in your hands but give me the satisfaction of riding this place off them ads.

   Spambot posts dissappear pretty quickly already. Whoever deals with them does a fine job.

   I have an even better idea: make Gadzooks! the site admin please. That way we can get rid of all past, current and potential anti-Halo irrelevance rather quickly. Unfortunately, you don't get marked as a troll for as long as the companies and corporate philosophies you 're trolling aren't someone's cherished :/ .

   I think the responsibility of removing those posts fall on the shoulders of the editorial staff, which I'm sure are too busy with writing and publishing the website's contents and it's a tiresome task after all the day's work. I might be wrong though, but IMO those messages don't disappear quick enough.

   I'm just surprised a simple script hasn't been written to take care of them.
   I mean, it would not take that long to write a script to find and delete posts by the bots... The problem is very big.

   Fellas, the site has Moderators already.

   *points to the little red under his name.

   For the forums a few of us do what we can, and for the news section of the site the staff take care of that. For the most part everyone does a bang up job. The problem is that the spammers come in waves and at odd hours. So unless someone were to just about live on the site scouring for them, we are going to have them. But they are delt with pretty quickly.

   Other then that, I know what your saying, I hate those damn spammers. But like I said, they get delt with asap. For the record, my keys aren't working at the moment, so I can't get after the posts in the forum right now.

   Seriously guys, just install Akismet into your WordPress installation. It'll take about 2 clicks and it does the spam-prevention job for you.

   @Joe - we already use it. The problem is the 99% come from a yahoo account created specifically for spam. I try to clean them out of posts when I can, and usually on Sunday afternoon I log into the site on my off hours to clear the junk out specifically. I didn't this weekend, as it was a holiday. Apologies if my absence was met with loads of discounted purse links, and a gazillion "like Reinaldo said...." posts. However, as OlderGamer indicated, we have forum mods doing the job in here, and as I do not have access to the forum curtain, I would help on that end as well if I could.

    Forum moderation isn't very effective, the same accounts come up quite a lot, it would be good if a comment is manually flagged by spam (and only spam is ever manually flagged) then the account associated with that comment should be flagged for further action to an Admin.

    How about adding a little button next to comments which allow people to report them :) That way, if we do see spammers we can report them and that should in-turn create a reported list for mods.

    I started a thread for reporting spam but it got buried in like 2 days.

    The forum code here is as basic as it gets.

    I just cleaned a bunch of Spam off the site in the comments. Also one from GIGA, Fin, and a few from DRDamn and some others were caught by the filter by mistake. I have "approved" those comments. Just FYI for those wondering where their comments went. I think DrDamn had a rough time with the filter earlier.

    Anyway, yeah. Have a good one.

    I still vote for you guys hiring someone to create your site in MVC. MVC 4 came out recently, and it is a dream! :P
