Anyone else excited about this one? Who got in the beta? Questions, questions, questions. I can't wait for it, I can't even remember since I've wanted a medieval slaughter with friends. Hope it turns out to be good. Impressions so far?

So... either noone's genuinely interested in this, or you're all occupied to fight or watch the fight that's going on in the "Iran officially block" thread. :P

I'm interested, but it seems like a more arcadey version of Mount & Blade.
I was hoping for a more realistic version.

Its NDA'd to hell and back.
I'll risk saying that I really like it.

I've seen worse NDA's...

It'll be more fun when I can join a "No Horses" server.

Got in the beta last week, and had some time to play a couple of hours. First thing that struck me is how frustrating this game is. I love the customization (you can even choose your house crest, and the weapon customization is stellar!), and the combat is different.
It really comes down to the guys you're playing with, though. I found myself ditched many times because my team-mates abandoned me in search of fame, and I've also got killed by a team-mate while I was bandaging myself. Yes, you get minimum amount of damage when you're hit by a team-mate, but I was on the brink of death. The guy realised he made a mistake and proceeded to revive me, but then a quick enemy raid slaughtered him and executed me, before leaving. Nice, huh?
I'm thinking twice of getting it though, because it lags horribly on my PC, although I have a fairly good internet connection. Graphically it looks neat, the combat is definitely meaty, although many players spam-hit you a lot, which completely breaks the immersion, the customization is a really great addition, and you also have custom characters! It's definitely a great game, but it needs a *lot* of polish, so I can see it being delayed a bit.
Any thoughts?

Surprising good but yes, needs more dev time. More as in like 6 months. Solid game though, refreshing and different.

Yeah, I fear that Fatshark are gonna come up short on dev time yet again. It's a shame, I really like those guys.

I'm not finding it very fun to play.
The fighting mechanics are just wrong. M&B is fast and loose compared to this, and you can actually have proper sword fights. In WotR you swing, then have to wait an hour before you can swing again or block with your shield.
The problem is that it would take less than 20 minutes to fix this, but it seems like they want it this way. That doesn't bode well for the future, even if they had 12 months more to work on it...

I don't see how it's any less detailed than Mount and Blade. When I was playing last time, it was pretty obvious to me that some kind of flaw in the code was causing the ping to stay over 200 on all the servers though.
It's far from ready for primetime.
If you have suggestions for making it better, I'd highly recommend putting them on the forum though. Fatshark were extremely active during the Krater tests when it came to user feedback.
